Pistons guard Jose Calderon had only ever been a member of the Toronto Raptors before being dealt to Detroit in a three-team deal on Jan. 30. Calderon spent the better part of seven seasons in Toronto and when he returned as a visitor on Monday night, he fell back into old habits.
Both teams use the same tunnel in the Air Canada Centre, and as they walked to the locker room at halftime, Calderon began to veer left towards the Raptors’ locker room. After identifying that he was wearing blue, in a line of white jerseys, Calderon quickly realized his mistake as he caught a camera filming all the action.
Despite pulling an April Fools’ Day joke on himself, Calderon got the last laugh with the Pistons defeating the Raptors 108-98.
Check out the funny mishap in the video below.

Former Toronto Raptors guard Jose Calderon let his old habits take over when the Detroit Pistons were at the Air Canada Center to play his former team. Calderon was absent-mindedly walking to the locker room when it had to be pointed out to him that he was heading to the wrong locker room. His old teammates got a good laugh out of it and Calderon knew he was destined for YouTube...
Jose Calderon is still easing into his new role as a member of the Pistons organization, and apparently has yet to re-train some of the old habits he picked up as a 7-year member of the Toronto Raptors. Last night Calderon was back in Toronto as his Pistons took on the Raptors and after the game Jose was walking to the locker room, but he forgot which one he actually belonged in...
Jose Calderon was traded to the Detroit Pistons earlier this season after spending seven and a half seasons with the Toronto Raptors. He made the walk to the home team locker room at the Air Canada Centre hundreds of times in the past so I think he can be excused for this gaffe in his first game back since the trade. His reaction when he realized the camera was on him is hilarious...
Former Raptor, Jose Calderon, returned to the Air Canada Centre Monday night for the first time since being traded to the Pistons in January, and the point guard naturally started to follow his former teammates to the wrong room following halftime before catching himself and turning around . I mean he did spend 7 1/2 seasons in Toronto, so we’ll give him a break.
Detroit Pistons guard Jose Calderon spent the first seven-plus years of his career walking into the Raptors’ locker room in Toronto at halftime and upon the conclusion of games. Assuming he was present for every game during his Raptors career, that means he repeated that action nearly 500 times. Old habits die hard. On Monday night, Calderon visited Toronto as a member of the Pistons...
To be fair to Detroit Pistons guard Jose Calderon, he did play with the Toronto Raptors earlier this season. So, when Jose ended up going the wrong way at the Air Canada Centre during tonight's Detroit Pistons/Toronto Raptors affair, it wasn't too surprising:
Tweet The old saying goes that old habits die hard. At halftime of Monday’s game between the Toronto Raptors and the Detroit Pistons, Jose Calderon proved that to be quite true with this blunder: It would be embarrassing enough for an NBA player to try and walk down to the opposing team’s locker room. However, [...]
Classic April Fools prank on himself.
The Big Leagues At least this happened off the court.
What’s the Haps for April 2nd? DeSaun Jackson lays down the Instagram Law, some high school kids put on a dunk fest, Jose Calderon’s old habits and more. I have no reason why I put that random Jerry Kill gif at the top other than I thought it was ridiculously funny. TORONTO, Ontario– The Detroit Pistons were coming off a tough loss to the Chicago Bulls the night before and then heard some terrible news before game time tonight. They found out that forward Jason Maxiell has suffered a detached retina and will be done for the season. They would bounce back, however. In Jose Calderon’s [...]
As bad as it's been for the Toronto Raptors lately, they're still faring better than the Detroit Pistons.
The Raptors will try to record their second victory over the Pistons in four days Monday night and spoil Jose Calderon's return to Toronto.
The Raptors (27-46) have dropped six of seven but won 99-82 in Detroit on Friday. Rudy Gay scored 19 of his 21 points in the...
