PLAYERS: Kenyon Martin
TEAMS: New York Knicks
All year the Knicks have been looking for a “big” to step up and help Tyson on the defensive end of the court. All year little has happened in that help. After the news came out that Rasheed Wallace had a fracture in his foot, which will require surgery and will most likely keep him out for the year, the Knicks finally signed Kenyon Martin to a 10-day contract. If this deal is renewed for the rest of the year, which I suspect will happen, the New York Knicks will have gained a player, if who healthy, can give you that expertise and savvy on the defensive end of the court. In this article by Al Iannazzone in Newsday looks into the mind of Kenyon Marin. “My knowledge of the game helps me out there a lot. It’s the same stuff on every team, just changing the names of it,” Martin said. “But I think I do a pretty good job paying attention to detail, watching tape, scouting, stuff like that, which is more than half the battle. When you get out on the court, if you know what your opponent’s going to do, it makes it that much easier.” “I’m just going to be me,” Martin said. “If what I do merits for me to be here the rest of the year, then I will be. And if not, then I won’t. But I think the way my game is and the way I play, I’ll let my play speak for itself.” Listening to Kenyon Martin I can’t help but think the Knicks have found the perfect player for them. I realize Kenyon is 35 and has maybe lost a step, but watching him last night for his brief stint in the Warriors game, I understood he could be a valuable find for the New York Knicks moving forward this year and maybe next. The question is what does Kenyon have left?   Peter A – Knickswag The post Kenyon Martin the Perfect Fit for the New York Knicks? appeared first on Knickswag - A New York Knicks Blog - News, Rumors, and more!.

New York Knicks Weekly Bench Report – February 28th Edition

Since my last bench report last Thursday, the Knicks have gone 2-1, losing last Friday night in Toronto, but then regaining momentum by winning their last two games against Philadelphia and Golden State. Not much has changed by way of the Knicks bench production, aside from the fact of what I believe to be a very consistent effort from their two big producers off the bench in...

Notes From the Knicks' Victory Over the Wizards

As the Knicks have continued to cool off from what was the team's hottest start in nearly a decade, many have wondered whether they'll be able ignite that same fire again, and furthermore, whether or not they'll be able to hang with the Heat as the elder squad propels to the postseason. With these questions continuing to swirl, Sunday's matchup at the Garden vs. Miami...

Do The Knicks Have A Definitive #2 Scoring Option?

Stephen Curry cemented himself in Madison Square Garden history with his 54 point, 11-13 from behind the arc game on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The performance marked the Garden’s third highest point total in it’s long, decorated history, behind Jordan’s famous 55 in 1995, and Kobe’s incredible 61 in 2009. Curry may have proved no one in the game has as pure of a shot as he recently...

Lala Anthony says no truth to the Honey Nut Cheerios rumor

Lala Anthony is promoting the latest season of her VH1 reality show, Lala’s Full Court Life. Of course people still want to know if it’s true that Celtics Kevin Garnett told Lala’s husband, Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, that she tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios during a match up a couple of weeks ago. Lala reiterated that simply isn’t true. I had to be able to laugh about...

Knicks 96, Wizards 88: One-sided fourth quarter lifts Knicks

The big news came before Friday’s game against the Washington Wizards, where New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson revealed that he’d made a change to the starting lineup: Jason Kidd was relegated to the bench in favor of James White. Hours before Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors dropped 54 points on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Mike Woodson spoke with the media New York about suffering a major loss. Yes, the Knicks would go on to beat the Warriors, but Woodson’s pre-game defeat focused instead on the left foot of Rasheed Wallace. His season is likely over. But what about Wallace’s...
