SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento Kings used balanced scoring to come away with a badly needed 131-127 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night before an announced crowd of 12,885 at Sleep Train Arena. The Kings got 24 points from DeMarcus Cousins, 23 by Aaron Brooks, 19 from Marcus Thornton and 17 by John Salmons. Brooks and Thornton combined to score the bulk of the Kings' points down the stretch by playing off each other, setting up wide-open three-point attempts. The victory ended a five-game losing streak for the Kings (8-17). The Warriors (18-8) lost their second game in as many meetings to Sacramento despite 32 points from Stephen Curry and 29 by David Lee, who also had eight rebounds. The Kings kept pace by making 34 of 42 free throws. The Warriors slowly walked the Kings out of their lead in the second half predominantly behind the shooting of Curry and former Kings forward Carl Landry. Landry was quiet, but came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 14 points in the period. Curry scored 23 of his 32 points in the second half before fouling out with 2:13 to play. Kings small forward John Salmons attacked the smaller Curry on successive possessions and drew the sixth foul. The teams traded the lead after Curry made a 3-pointer to give Golden State a 112-111 lead. The Kings, who owned a 63-55 halftime lead, benefited greatly from Thornton's return. He'd missed the previous four games while tending to his mother in Louisiana. Thornton made 5 of 10 3-point attempts. NOTES: The Kings were looking for improvement from each of their players, but no one has shown more than guard Jimmer Fredette. The second-year guard has played with a great deal of confidence. Despite limited and erratic playing time, Fredette has scored 32 points in his past two games and has made 5 of 10 3-point attempts. ... The Kings recalled forward Tyler Honeycutt from their Reno Bighorns of the Development League. ... Lee has had 10 20-point/10-rebound games. Lee is tied with Miami's LeBron James for the most 20-10 games this season. ... Warriors guard Jarrett Jack has been a member of six franchises during his seven NBA seasons. Jack has a positive mindset regarding his constant team movement. "I look at it like somebody wants me and I must have been playing pretty well for that to be the case. I don't know why I've been traded so much."
