With the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League a week away, the Knicks roster has been posted to the media. With some potential roster fillers and possible sleepers, one name comes to mind: Jeremy Tyler. Jeremy Tyler, the talented high school prep star who skipped his senior year and went pro, is signed up to attend this years summer league squad with the New York Knicks. The Summer League Roster: Via Jared Zwerling Both Hardaway Jr. and Leslie will suit up in Las Vegas for the Knicks’ summer league team, starting this Friday. The rest of the roster includes J’Covan Brown (Texas), Justin Brownlee (St. John’s), Terrence Jennings (Louisville),Jerome Jordan (D-League), A.J. Matthews (Farmingdale State), Tony Mitchell (D-League), Toure Murry (D-League),Iman Shumpert, Chris Smith (J.R.’s younger brother),Jeremy Tyler (D-League) and Eloy Vargas (overseas). Jeremy’s pro career overseas did not start or end well. After some tough times, Jeremy entered the 2011 draft, eventually being selected by Charlotte, and then traded to Golden State a few moments later. He spent most of the year up and down from the D-League with what became an unproductive year. He later was traded to Atlanta and then released. This is not how Jeremy expected his career to go at that point. Jeremy is at a crossroads in his career. Will he end up being a European professional or will he get his chance in the NBA? Standing at 6’11″ 260 pounds, Jeremy has skills that most would line up to watch on a nightly basis. However, Jeremy has not received the chance to display these skills on a nightly basis with adequate playing time. New York is at a crossroads as well. Amar’e has not been healthy the last 2 years, K-Mart is not an offensive threat, and with no other PF’s standing out on the roster, Jeremy has the chance to shine and show the Knicks brass what he’s got. Can he stick or is he another player in a long line of players that let an opportunity slip away at summer league?
