Coming off a heartbreaking loss at home to the East leading Miami Heat on Sunday, after squandering a 16-point lead, the Knicks head into Cleveland tonight to take on Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers.
I believe this to be the biggest game of the year thus far for the Knicks. The reason for this is because they are going to have to respond to a really tough loss the day before to the Heat. This will be against the Cavs, who aside from Kyrie Irving and maybe Dion Waiters, are not a great team. If the Knicks go out there and pout tonight, show that little-kid-type body language and losing focus, then it will be clear that this team is not ready to make any kind of run in the playoffs. After a tough loss at home in the dance, they’ll have to come right back and beat a great team, maybe on the road, the very next game. And then maybe play that great team again. And again. While they have the talent to win some games after the regular season, they must be mentally prepared for such a run. Tonight is the Knicks’ chance to show us what they’re made of.
On a side note, I would love to see Amar’e Stoudemire play in the final minutes of this game tonight. I think it’s about time that the second best player on the team was on the court to close it out.
