Kobe Bryant loves to break the mold, and his latest attempt at doing the impossible, will be trying to return to acting by the Lakers season opener. Bryant told ESPN L.A. that his goal is to be in the lineup on opening night. “I hope so,” Bryant said in a sit-down interview with on Monday. “That’s the challenge. With the tendon, there’s really only but so much you can do. There’s a certain amount of time that they deem necessary for the tendon to heal where you don’t overstretch it and now you never get that spring back. “So, you just have to be patient, let the tendon heal, and then when that moment comes when they say, ‘OK, we can take off the regulator so to speak and now it’s on you to train as hard as you can to get back to where you want to be,’ that’s going to be a good day.” I know we hear it all the time, but if anyone can break the mold and return in less time than expected, it’s the Black Mamba.

Here’s Barry Jacobs on Coach K re-upping with the U.S. Olympic team. One guy K won’t have who he’s had each time so far: Kobe Bryant, who has ruled it out. If we were searching for one word to describe Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade, or Kobe Bryant, the word "relentless" would be very fitting.  So it is also fitting that their renowned trainer, Tim Grover of Attack Athletics, has named his latest book Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable. Kobe Bryant Says He’ll Have Final Word With Dwight Howard Before His FA Decision

I don’t think there is anything Kobe can say at the moment that will affect Dwight Howard’s decision. To me it is a very simple decision for Howard. If he is too afraid of the spotlight and being the face of a franchise like the Lakers, he will sign with the Rockets. But, Kobe for his part wants to have the final word before he makes a decision. “For me, you kind of let him...

Finals matchup not great for Kobe

The biggest loser of the 2013 NBA Finals won't be LeBron James and the Miami Heat or Tim Duncan and his San Antonio Spurs. It'll be Kobe Bryant.
