According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, the Lakers could very well get superstar Kobe Bryant back earlier than they expected. Reports came out last week that the Lakers would have Bryant re-evaluated at some point in February, but now reports are coming out that he will be re-evaluated on either Monday or Tuesday of next week. This is very good news for the Lakers, and it means that Kobe’s rehab has been progressing at a faster rate than expected. “Kobe will be re-evaluated at the end of the road trip when the team returns to LA on either Monday or Tuesday, per the Lakers. Kobe said that the re-evaluation would be sometime in February, but it will actually be a little sooner.” - Dave McMenamin, ESPN LA The Lakers have been struggling the last couple weeks and appear to be headed for a high lottery pick at this time. Perhaps Kobe Bryant coming back could spark some energy back into the team, but either way it will be nice to see him back on the floor. He has made it clear that no matter what the Lakers’ record is, he will return to the court and play as hard as he can. Bryant has played in just six games for the Lakers this season, averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game. His numbers were beginning to get much better as he got his feet back under him coming off of his Achilles tear last year. It’s tough to see one of the greatest players to ever play the game be bogged down like this with injuries, but at least his body is healing quickly and he’ll be good to get back out on the court soon.
