Kobe Bryant sent the Charlotte Hornets – the original ones, that are now the New Orleans Pelicans, not the Michael Jordan owned version that previously known as the Charlotte Bobcats – a shout out Tuesday on Instagram. Kobe thanked them for telling him they didn’t need him and trading him to the Lakers. On this day 18yrs ago the hornets told me right after they drafted me that they had no use for me and were going to trade me. #thanku#Believe#usmnt#lakers#jwest#drbuss#letsGo#USA We thank them too! The only problem I have with this, Kobe was drafted and traded on June 26, 1996. But we’re just going to roll with the emotion of the statement.

Kobe Bryant Miiiiiight Have Gotten Fat (But Probably Not)

Kobe Bryant flew in to Los Angeles late Wednesday night to be there when free agent Carmelo Anthony visits with the Lakers. Kobe only played in six games last season and likely will need to prove to ‘Melo that he’s in playing shape to make the Lakers a more attractive destination. But is Kobe in playing shape? Aside from the lower body problems that have plagued him over the...

Kobe Bryant says championship expectations for LeBron James are ridiculous

When we tend to judge how well an NBA player has done over his career, we tend to use numbers of championships won as an indicator. Recently, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant decided to come out and say that championships expectations even for the greatest players are sometimes uncalled for. During an interview with Worldstar about the 2014 World Cup, Kobe came out and said that...

Kobe Bryant thanks Hornets on anniversary of trade to Lakers

Prior to putting on the purple & gold of the Los Angeles Lakers, and winning five NBA championships and an MVP Award, Kobe Bryant was a member of the Charlotte Hornets, briefly. After being selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 Draft by the Hornets, Bryant was famously traded to the Lakers on […]

Kobe appears to have put on a few pounds in the offseason

Kobe is basketball years is old and frankly most guys in their mid-30s look like this, just part of life’s ugly beer belly cycle. I am sure by the time training camp rolls around he will be in much better shape. He has plenty of time, it is the off-season, so if he wants to look like Boris Diaw or a mini Carmelo Anthony that is fine. Same thing happened to Ric Flair and he is...

Kobe Bryant Thanks Hornets on Twitter for Trading Him After 1996 Draft

Eighteen years ago today, the Charlotte Hornets made a trade that they'd like to have back. Kobe Bryant hasn't forgotten that trade. Charlotte took Bryant out of high school with the 13th pick in the 1996 NBA draft. Less than a week later, the Hornets traded the Black Mamba to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Thanks Hornets for Trading Him

Kobe has played every single game of his NBA career for the Los Angeles Lakers, although he was actually drafted by the Hornets. Things have worked out pretty well for Kobe and the Lakers, and I’m sure the Hornets would like to take that trade back. Knowing Kobe, he certainly took this to heart. It doesn’t seem like the Mamba takes anything lightly. So, of course, he thanked...

Report: Kobe Bryant Returns From Vacation To Make Pitch To Carmelo Anthony

Five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant really wants the Los Angeles Lakers to add another star to their roster. That desire apparently is so great that Bryant returned from his European vacation late Wednesday night in order to be present for the Lakers’ pitch to free-agent Carmelo Anthony on Thursday, according to ESPN sources. Bryant, who has a long history and friendship with Anthony...

Lakers to meet with Carmelo Anthony Thursday

The Los Angeles Lakers will sit-down with free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony on Thursday. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com, the pitch to Anthony will be spearheaded by Lakers president Jeanie Buss, executive vice president of player personnel Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak. Jeanie Buss, who wasn’t present for the Lakers meeting with Dwight Howard last year, “has...

Lakers are interested in trading for Rajon Rondo

This would be a huge move for the Lakers because Steve Nash is getting older and he has not helped the Lakers do anything in the past couple of years.  Kobe Bryant needs a solid young point guard and Rondo is the perfect guy for the Lakers. In this deal the players that the Lakers could be giving up are Kendall Marshall and Robert Sacre.  Rondo clearly needs players around him...

The Los Angeles Lakers will meet with free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony today and will have superstar Kobe Bryant present at the sit-down. Could the Lakers make a play for Chandler Parsons?

The Los Angeles Lakers are entering an offseason that is extremely uncertain, but they have plenty of options to pursue that they can choose from with free agency opening at midnight. One of those options is former Houston Rockets forward Chandler Parsons. He will be allowed to test free agency this offseason with the Rockets trying to save as much money as possible to pursue LeBron...

Los Angeles Lakers: Team Faces Free Agency Dilemma

The Los Angeles Lakers have a long and rich history of acquiring superstars. Whether it is through a trade, the draft or free agency, the purple and gold seemingly always find a way to bring the stars to Hollywood. Last summer, Dwight Howard put the Lakers in unfamiliar territory when he bolted to Houston to join the Rockets. It was the first time in recent memory that an All-Star...

Kobe Cuts Short Vacation to Come to LA to Pitch Carmelo

I am going to assume Kobe’s pitch to Carmelo will be better than the one to Dwight Howard because he likes and respect Carmelo more. But, with Kobe you never know, but he will be in the room according to ESPN. Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant flew in late Wednesday night from a European vacation so he could play a key part in the team’s pitch to free-agent forward Carmelo...
