The LA Clippers had some major organizational moves to make after losing GM Michael Winger to the Washington Wizards. It looks like they've finally made their decision and how they're going to replace him, and no, it doesn't involve Bob Myers.
LA has officially promoted Trent Redden to the General Manager of the team, and Mark Hughes to the Senior Vice President/Assistant General Manager. As it stands, Lawrence Frank is still top of the totem pole as the President of Basketball Operations. If someone like Bob Myers were to join the LA Clippers, he would likely be in Lawrence Franks' position, not Michael Winger's old position.
Additionally, the LA Clippers released an official press statement from Lawrence Frank about the promotions:
“For the past six years, Trent and Mark have been trusted evaluators, dependable leaders, and for me, close confidantes. Today, we’re thrilled to reward them,” said Lawrence Frank, Clippers President of Basketball Operations. “A lot of executives have backgrounds in strategy or evaluation. Trent brings expertise and agility in both. Since he joined us, Trent has scoured the globe in search of amateur and pro talent while serving as an integral advisor on every major decision and acquisition we’ve made. He is a respected leader with strong relationships throughout the league, and we’re excited to see him in his new role.”
It's going to be a very interesting off-season for the LA Clippers where they find themselves at a crossroads. How much do they run it back, and how much do they start things fresh?
