Head coaches need to be able to communicate with their players in order to be successful; maybe that’s why Mike D’Antoni struggled early on last season. According to Antawn Jamison, D’Antoni had a “breakdown of communication” when he first joined the team back in November. Here’s what Jamison recently told ESPN Radio: “Mike was pretty much put in a difficult situation,” Jamison said. “There was no training camp where he could get a feel for guys. There was a breakdown of communication when we first got there. And throughout the season it was kind of up and down. “I don’t dislike Mike. I obviously respect him as a coach. In my eyes, one of the best offensive-minded coaches in the league. I just think he was put in a tough situation … but toward the end of the season you saw him kind of open up, and we started to have a relationship, and I kind of understood where he was coming from.” As Jamison says, it was tough for D’Antoni to get accustomed to his new players last year seeing as he didn’t have a training camp and was thrown in at the deep end. Next season, with a full training camp and pre-season under his belt – as well as a selection of players who are more suited to his fast-paced offense – D’Antoni should get a better feel for his personnel, which will hopefully translate into having happier players and more Ws in the win column. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }

VIDEO: Watch Dr. Jerry Buss’ epic speech at Jerry West’s statue ceremony

Dr. Jerry Buss had a way with words. The four and a half minute speech he gave at Jerry West’s statue ceremony was one of the best I’ve ever heard; it wasn’t too long, and it wasn’t too short – it was just right. Dr. Buss honored West at the ceremony back in 2011 and Mr. Clutch appeared to be close to tears by the end of the late Lakers owner’s touching tribute. You can...

Lamar Odom's career crashes in one tragic week

It was not long ago that Lamar Odom was a key part of a championship team. It was three years ago, in fact. Odom averaged only 10.8 points per game that year but was a big part of the puzzle for the Lakers. In 2011, Odom averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 53.0 percent from the floor. Then, after departing Los Angeles as a free agent, he sort of drifted away. He was unhappy...

New Clippers forward Antwan Jamison was a Laker last season so it’s interesting to hear the perspective of someone who was actually in that locker room. While talking with ESPN, Jamison...
