Tonight could be the last time we see Steve Nash play in an NBA game. According to Lakers beat writer Mark Medina, the Canadian believes that tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks will likely be his last game of the year. Steve participated in a mere 13 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 7.3 points and 5.7 assists per game. Tonight would mark the 14th game for the Canadian, a far cry from his Phoenix years when he always played in 60+ games. Nash noted that an appearance on Sunday is unlikely due to the early tip and fears he won’t have the requisite time needed to recover from the Mavs game. Nash, who undoubtedly has been tough to follow during his tenure with the Lakers due to hie extreme injury woes, will enter tonight with a very real possibility of playing in the last game of his career. Steve has struggled to deliver as a member of the Lakers arguably from the get-go, and for him as a player to face the harsh reality that tonight could be the end of his Hall of Fame career will surely be a tough pill to swallow. The Lakers could choose to waive Nash this summer via the stretch provision, or the 40-year-old could decide that his body is no longer fit to compete in the NBA, though both of those scenarios seem unlikely at this point in time. In related news, Jordan Farmar is likely to play on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets, according to Bill Oram of the Orange County Register. Farmar last appeared for the Lakers in March and has missed the team’s past nine games due to an injured groin. Jordan has averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 assists per game in 36 appearances this season. The UCLA product is set to become a free agent this summer and will surely be contacted by various NBA teams looking to add some depth to their point guard position. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } } The post Lakers News: Steve Nash to play final game of season, possibly career, tonight against Dallas appeared first on Lakerholicz.com.
