PHOTO: ESPN You probably heard that Jeanie Buss and Adam Silver had dinner together last week and later attended a Lakers home game at Staples Center. During their meetings, Buss said that she and Silver discussed the possibility that her relationship with Phil Jackson could end up being a conflict of interest seeing as the legendary coach now serves as the president of the New York Knicks. However, it also seems that the NBA’s new commissioner wanted to use the opportunity to tell Jeanie that she has the power to make big changes within the Lakers’ organization, and the league’s front office wants her to be more “aggressive” in leading the franchise, according to Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding. When Dr. Jerry Buss passed away in early 2013, Jeanie inherited the titles of president and governor of the Lakers. Therefore, she has the most power within the organization. As Jeanie said last week in a sit-down interview with Time Warner Cable SportsNet’s Bill Macdonald, “ultimately, the buck stops with me.” Ding also pointed out in his article that Jeanie could’ve hired her fiancé, Jackson, at any time seeing as she has the most power within the organization. However, as we’ve said before, Dr. Buss carefully constructed the Lakers’ front office over a number of years and did so with the team’s best intentions in mind. Jeanie wasn’t going to undo her father’s work just a year after his death. That doesn’t mean that changes won’t come in the future if the team continues to struggle, though at this point, the team’s current basketball operations just needs to be given a little time to try and right the ship. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } } The post Lakers Rumors: New NBA commissioner Adam Silver told Jeanie Buss to use her power to lead team appeared first on
