Lakers
It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers are already looking at the future after Kobe Bryant retires. The Lakers are now targeting the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant. Durant has proved himself of being the best player in the NBA this season. It’s very possible that Durant will travel to an organization holding 16 championships. It would also build onto Durant’s legacy as the Lakers are known for being one of the best teams in the NBA. For example, the Lakers now have the superstar Kobe Bryant on their side, who when retires, Jim Buss expects to be replacing him with Kevin Durant. However, Durant may only go there if he has the help such as he has in Oklahoma City with Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is the role star who keeps everything under control, and if Durant travels to Los Angeles, the Lakers also expect to be gaining Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony, and possible even, LeBron James. There is one piece that will definitely stop Kevin Durant from going to the Lakers, and that would be their coach, Mike D’Antoni. D’Antoni is only an offensive coach, and since Durant is a three-time scoring champion, offense is the last thing he needs. D’Antoni is one of the worst coaches in the entire league and while Kevin Durant has Scott Brooks, it would be impossible for him to get accustomed to Mike D’Antoni. Multiple championships are going to come out of Kevin Durant, and the Lakers want him to use all of those championships on their organization. It’s obviously clear that Durant would rather win with the Thunder than anyone, but once he wins his first championship, money is going to come into play, and as the Lakers are making Kobe Bryant one of the highest paid athletes in the world, they could do the same with Kevin Durant. The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have to do a whole lot to reel Kevin Durant into their organization, but the Lakers always get what they really want. Durant is certain to come to the Lakers if the Los Angeles Lakers really want him. It looks as if the Los Angeles Lakers are in the process of making a “super team” in the next couple of years, and it will be very interesting to see what they can do.
