Lynne Sladky/Associated Press The 2013-2014 race for the NBA MVP award has become a two-man race between Miami Heat star LeBron James and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant. Each can make the case that they deserve the coveted trophy, but it seems James may be acknowledging the fact that Durant could be closing in on winning the prize. Entering the final games of the regular season, James was asked whether he thought Durant was a front runner for the award. “I would say he’s the most consistent basketball player as far as the MVP this year, man,” James said. “He’s put up some great numbers.” This statement is probably true. Durant recently passed Michael Jordan for most  25+ consecutive games, and his team is looking like one of the most dominant in the Western Conference. James has won the MVP four times to Durant’s none, but it seems as though times might be changing. James acknowledged Durant’s impressive season before the Heats’ loss to the Grizzlies Wednesday night. “I think KD has had one heck of a season,” James said of Durant, the league’s leading scorer. “And, you know, if he’s rewarded with the MVP, it would be great. It would be awesome for him, for his family. He’s played MVP-type basketball. Durant has had an amazing season, and has been consistently great throughout. He is not the same player that fell to James and the Heat in the 2012 Finals. He has improved on his game as a whole, and his team has become a danger to anyone in the Western Conference. James has also been great this season, however, it seems as though Durant has pulled ahead and even LeBron may have to realize this. In all honestly, both players likely have other things on their mind. For James, it is heading into the postseason with one of his key players, Dwayne Wade, facing serious knee trouble this season. For Durant, it is both Westbrook knee trouble and winning his very first first NBA Championship. Whoever wins the battle of MVP, it is likely that the “Lebron vs Durant” argument will not go away anytime soon. Both these athletes have a chance to meet each other in the Finals, where we may be treated to a battle of these two stars. Time will tell. Thunder 2 For 2 In California Back-To-Back

A couple of streaks ended Tuesday night, as the Kings held Durant to just 23 points.
