TEAMS: Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers
Tonight's game should be a tough one to predict, as the Boston Celtics (22-23) are without point guard Rajon Rondo and the Orlando Magic (14-31) are without Glen Davis and possibly Arron Afflalo. Rondo is out for the season with an ACL tear, which comes as terrible news to a team that already had the 4th-worst offense in the league. They currently hold the 8th seed in the East, with 3 games separating them from the 9th place Philadelphia 76ers. The Magic are well out of position for a playoff spot, so the loss of any veteran players just opens up spots in the rotation for younger guys to get valuable development time on the court.
The Magic have lost their last four games on the road by an average of 20 points. They have been getting decent, if not consistent, offensive output from Jameer Nelson, Nikola Vucevic, and J.J. Redick, but the buck stops there. Afflalo has been out with a strained left calf for the last two games. Maurice Harkless had his best game of the season last ...

Celtics Win First Without Rondo 99-81
On Wednesday night the Celtics faced the Kings in what might have be the last time a Sacramento team comes to the TD Garden. The Celtics looked to begin the first chapter of their season without Rajon Rondo who was diagnosed with a torn ACL after pregame warm-ups Sunday. The Kings came to town amidst a potential relocation to Seattle and looked to get their second win over the Celtics...
Rajon Rondo’s Torn ACL Could Force Celtics to Shuffle Players at Trade Deadline
For much of the 2012-13 season, it appeared as though the Boston Celtics might be able to hang on to their spot among the Eastern Conference’s elite, that no longer seems to be the case. Not on the NBA moneyline, at least, where their odds of winning the NBA championship have dipped to 30-1.
This, we’ll remind you, is a team whose been a mainstay within the NBA futures’ top...
Celtics Roll Over Magic, Move To 3-0 Post-Rondo
Celtics 97, Magic 84
A Celtics team that is reeling from injuries was fortunate enough to match up against an Orlando Magic squad that came into Friday Night’s game having lost 18 of their last 20. Boston (23-23) pulled away with a 14-4 run to begin the fourth quarter and ended up winning by double-digits for the second consecutive game.
Inevitably, this will only fuel the...

JR Smith unhappy with second snub
When Rajon Rondo went down for the season, the Knicks guard thought he had a real shot to be named as his All-Star replacement, but alas, it just was not meant to be.
RedsArmy presents: Fan Friday #39: “Family Affair”
I had the pleasure of meeting Ica, this week’s featured fan, and her family at last Sunday’s Celtics-Heat game. It was Ica’s first ever time to TD Garden and what a game she got to watch! It was somewhat bittersweet for her, as Rajon Rondo, her favorite Celtic, missed the game due to a season-ending ACL injury. But Ica did not let that dampen her spirits-she still enjoyed cheering...
Glen Davis Suffers Broken Foot
Glen "Big Baby" Davis suffered a broken foot Wednesday Night against the New York Knicks. Davis who already missed 11 games with a shoulder injury, might now have to miss the raminder of the season, but we'll wait for official reports before we throw that out there. The injury came early in the 1st quarter, and Davis finished the night playing only 4 minutes, going 1...
Boston 99, Sacramento 81 - All-Around Effort Pushes Celtics Past Kings
The Boston Celtics came out with a whole lot more than vengeance on their minds. Still, in the end, that is what they got.
Playing their first game with the weight of the knowledge that Rajon Rondo will not be returning this season, the Celtics avenged an embarrassing defeat by dispatching the Sacramento Kings, 99-81.
Exactly one month ago, the Celtics visited Sacramento and left...
Mets' Lopez replaces Rondo on All-Star team
Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez will replace injured Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo on the Eastern Conference roster for the All-Star Game, the league announced Wednesday. This will be Lopez's first All-Star Game, and he will be the only representative from the Nets, who are 27-18. Rondo was named an All-Star starter based on the fans' vote, but he is out for the rest...
Celtics-Magic Live: Jeff Green, Celts Try to Keep Rolling Without Rajon Rondo
8 a.m. ET: So far, so good for the Celtics without their All-Star point guard. They are 2-0 since Rajon Rondo went down for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, although just 1-0 since they actually learned of the injury. (Aside from Doc Rivers and a few people on the medical staff, nobody knew of Rondo’s diagnosis until after Sunday’s win over the Heat.)
The Celtics...
Knicks mesh for victory as Magic loses Davis
NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks again showed they have to work on their inconsistent defense. But one of the questions that hovered around them for most of the season is starting to get a positive answer: Tyson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire showed another sign they could mesh well. The trio combined for 55 points in the Knicks' 113-97 win over the reeling...
Why we know nothing about the Celtics new starting five, and why that might be a good thing
As we sit here on January 30th, there are very few unknowns on the NBA landscape. After all, the season is three months old, and most teams have played anywhere from 42 to 47 games thus far. Every one of the 30 NBA teams has advanced scouts that know just about every potential line-up that a team could throw on the floor at any time, and how to defend said line-up. In the year 2013...
Next man up: Boston Celtics breeze by Orlando Magic 97-84
With tonight’s victory over the Orlando Magic the Celtics have won three in a row and clawed their way back to .500. Forgive me if I’m not all sunshine and duck boats, but I don’t think wins over the Sacramento Kings and the Orlando Magic (without Glen Davis and Aaron Afflalo!) tell us anything about where this team stands after the loss of Rajon Rondo (and now Jared Sullinger...

By Mike Shalin, The Sports Xchange BOSTON -- The short-handed Celtics won their third straight game Friday night, cruising to a 97-84 victory over the woeful Magic. Five days after he and his team learned Rajon Rondo would be lost for the season, rookie Jared Sullinger underwent back surgery and also will be lost for the year. But after beating Miami in double overtime Sunday...

Maybe the basketball gods ARE against us
When J.J. Redick jokingly said the basketball gods were against the Magic after three tip-in attempts failed to send the Magic to overtime against the Pistons, you could take it as the light-hearted frustration of a team on a losing streak.
Of course, then Glen Davis went down with a fractured left foot and his career season was cut off prematurely. Then you step back and consider...
