The NBA offseason is still in its infancy but that doesn't mean the NBA takes a break. The 2013 Orlando Summer League is underway and already it is giving fans a glimpse at the future of the NBA and not to mention, some juicy highlights to hold fans over until the start of the 2013-14 NBA season. VIDEO: Nets' Mason Plumlee posterizes Pistons' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in Summer League

NBA Summer League play began on Sunday, with the Orlando Summer League getting underway (it runs through July 12th, while the Las Vegas Summer League is from July 12-22). It was the first chance for many rookies to get their first NBA (ish) action. One such player was the Nets' Mason Plumlee, who was selected 22nd by Brooklyn in the June draft. While the Nets lost their Summer...

Mason Plumlee spins into monster dunk

As we near the end of the first day of the Orlando Summer League, we were sadly lacking one incredible slam dunk until the start of the Detroit Pistons/Brooklyn Nets game. Watch as Mason Plumlee of the Nets throws down an impressive spinning poster dunk on Pistons rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope:

VIDEO: Plumlee dunk-a-thon?

Former Duke center and Brooklyn Nets draft pick Mason Plumlee had a quite a day in yesterday’s Summer League game vs the Miami Heat. Plumlee scored 23 points and pulled down rebounds, while going a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line. This was impressive because he had another quite first half but exploded in the second half. A second half that included his own...

VIDEO: Mason Plumlee Dunks Over Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Recent Nets draft pick Mason Plumlee did not waste any time in showing why Brooklyn took him with the 22nd overall pick. In the team’s first summer league game, the Duke alum made a bid for his first SportsCenter “Top 10” dunk as a pro.  With six minutes remaining in the first quarter against the Pistons, Plumlee spun around fellow rookie Peyton Siva and threw down a vicious...

Jason Kidd gives out fist bumps to everyone (VIDEO)

YouTube First-year Nets head coach Jason Kidd has never run a team from an NBA or even college bench.  On Sunday, he made his coaching debut during an NBA Summer League game.  The guy who distributed 12,091 assists over his NBA career distributed nearly as many (eight) fist bumps prior to Sunday’s tilt. The most meaningful stat during the Pistons 76-67 win over New Jersey (it’s...

Jason Kidd Gets T’d Up In Summer League Coaching Debut

Jason Kidd made his NBA head coaching debut for the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon during a summer league game against the Pistons. It didn’t go as smooth as J-Kidd likely hoped – not only did the Nets lose 76-67, but Kidd also got his first technical foul as a coach during the game for wandering too far out of the coaching box. Looks like Kidd has got quite a bit to learn...

Jason Kidd Gets Technical Foul In Coaching Debut (Video)

Jason Kidd made his NBA head coaching debut for the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon during a summer league game against the Pistons. The Nets lost 76-67, and Kidd got his first ever technical foul, but not for arguing a call or anything like that.  Kidd got the technical for wandering too far outside of the coaching box. Heat columnist Ethan Skolnick said that Kidd chalked it...

Meet The New Guys: Marshon Brooks

Though I wasn't a fan of Danny Ainge's KG-Pierce trade, I was pleased with his last minute alteration to acquire 24 year-old Marshon Brooks. The 6'5" shooting guard has a skillset that some have even called Kobe-esque (not saying he's the next Kobe), and his 7'1" wingspan allows him to get his shot off even when heavily guarded. He only played 13 minutes...

Hopson, Clark Lead Heat To 93-86 Win Over Nets

The Miami Heat defeated the Brooklyn Nets in Summer League play on Monday by a final score of 93-86. Scotty Hopson had 22 points, while Ian Clark had 19 and James Ennis scored 17. Tyshawn Taylor scored 25 points for the Nets and Mason Plumlee had 23 points and nine rebounds.

How do the new look Nets matchup with the Heat?

As expected the Heat have to be favorites for the NBA title next year, but the Pierce and KG to Brooklyn trade does make things interesting. A starting five of Brook Lopez, KG, Pierce, Joe Johnson and Deron Williams is one of the best starting five in the league and could give the Heat a run for their money. They presumably would pose serious match-up problems with this big lineup...

Jason Kidd gets first 1st technical as NBA coach

Jason Kidd has had many firsts during 21 seasons in the NBA but added another one to his career Sunday — this time as the Brooklyn Nets' new head coach. Kidd received his first technical as an NBA coach at the team's first Summer League game while making his debut as the Nets bench leader. Brooklyn's rookie coach got off the bench Sunday, walked too far across half...

Meet the new guys: Kris Humphries

We live in a world where image is of utmost importance. There are several factors contributing to this phenomenon; one is the fact that life has gotten faster and our attention spans have gotten shorter. The media industry has become dependent on ratings more than ever, and the way the social media evolved has created a competition that puts more focus on sensation and speed over...
