The NBAs abbreviated free agency period has certainly been an active one for the Dallas Mavericks. That trend continued on Monday as the franchise announced the signing of free agent swingman Vince Carter and reportedly agreed to terms with combo guardDelonte West. Carter, 34, has earned eight trips to the All-Star Game in his 13 years in the league. The athletic 6-6 scorer, who is known for some of the most impressive dunks in the history of the game, averaged 13.5 pointsin 51 games last season with Phoenix. He was traded to the Suns in December 2010 after playing for Orlando, New Jersey and Toronto. Terms of Carters deal were not disclosed by the Mavericks.With J.J. Barea reportedly signing with Minnesota, West could serve as Jason Kidds primary backup.
