Eric Williams, simply known as “E” in Boston, spent seven years donning the green and quickly became a fan favorite for his hustle and determination. E’s career in Boston began way back in 1995 when he was drafted 14th overall out of Providence College. His first two seasons in Boston were very good, when he averaged 10.7 PPG and 3.4 RPG in 1995-96 and increased those totals to 15 PPG and 4.6 RPG the next season.
Williams was then traded to the Denver Nuggets during the 1997 offseason for a couple of second rounders. But E’s fate would land him back in Beantown after just two seasons in Denver when he was traded alongside Danny Fortson and Eric Washington plus a future draft pick in exchange for Ron Mercer, Ronald “Popeye” Jones and Dwayne Schintzius.
