Miami Heat: Greg Oden Signing Grade Josh Morgan: Hoopstuff Writer… Contract: 2 years for 2.5 million, with the second year a player option This signing is a speculative, albeit good one by the Heat. The speculation comes in terms of Oden’s health. Coming off of his third micro-fracture knee surgery, Oden is fragile at best. However, he is only 25 and could still have good years left in his body to turn his career around after 5 extremely disappointing and injury filled years after being the first overall pick by Portland in 2007. From the Heat’s perspective, Oden is a big body that could be able to defend and bump against players such as Roy Hibbert, Brook Lopez and the other bigs in the Eastern Conference. Hibbert really hurt them in the Eastern Conference finals, helping the Pacers push the series to seven games. A player like Oden, when healthy, is a much better defensive option in the post than Udonis Haslem and even Chris Andersen, who does not have the bulk to keep bigger play...

Greg Oden regenerates the Heat

A couple weeks ago, I wrote an article about Greg Oden and the impact he could make as a healthier player (he likely won’t be anything near what he would have been).  I had suggested some possible teams that would benefit from signing Greg Oden since it was a low risk-high reward situation.  The Miami Heat was the first team I brought up, and the Miami Heat it will be. The one...

Miami Heat add Greg Oden in free agency

Multiple reports on Friday night confirmed that the Miami Heat have signed the oft-injured Greg Oden to a two-year deal. Year two of the contract is a player option. Oden, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2007 by the Portland Trailblazers, never developed into the dominant center many believed he would be in the NBA. Towering at seven feet, the Ohio State product has suffered through...

With options limited, Oden makes his way to Miami

Sources close to the situation say the Cleveland Cavaliers were likely Greg Odens first choice. But the Cavs went with Andrew Bynum instead, giving Oden a reason to look elsewhere. Oden is a 7-footer who played collegiately at Ohio State and was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Three microfracture knee surgeries later, he signed a free-agent contract with...

Greg Oden signs who knows if he actually plays

Greg Oden is now a member of the Miami Heat but the question is will he ever play for them? Oden hasn’t appeared in a NBA game since 2009 and has had numerous failed comeback attempts. Will he fail again? No one knows not even himself which is why he signed with the Heat. Out of all potential suitors Miami was the one team who didn’t really need him, especially early in the...

More NBA Teams to don Unpopular Short-Sleeved Jerseys Next Season

Why teams agreed to wear these short-sleeved abominations, is beyond me. But according to a story by Kevin Zimmerman of SB Nation via Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld, NBA fans should be prepared to see more of the adidas short-sleeve jerseys, as five organizations have agreed to wear them as an alternate option and as many as 20 teams, have agreed to wear them at least once (Yay!). A few...
