Woodson called Shumpert’s 15-minute debut against Detroit “a wonderful test” and said the 22-year old All-Rookie selection “answered the bell loud and clear.” Yes, though Woodson enjoys needling Shumpert about his hair — the overgrown high-top fade — and enjoys referring to him as “Rook” even though he’s in his second season now, the coach can’t hide how much he adores his young, energetic guard. “It’s a tribute to him and how hard he’s worked to get back on the floor,” Woodson said. “I’m happy as hell to get him back.” Shumpert was 2 for 3 from downtown for 8 points in his debut. He’ll remain on a minutes restriction for a little while as he works his way back into game shape. via Alan Hahn
