Found July 12, 2013 on Pass The Pill:
Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that Monta Ellis is going to the Dallas Mavericks: image from   The Dallas Mavericks have struck a free-agent deal with guard Monta Ellis, according to sources close to the process. Sources told that the Mavericks and Ellis have agreed to terms on a three-year deal that — depending on where Dallas ends up in terms of salary-cap space as it works on a number of deals — could rise to as high as $30 million. The deal, at the minimum, will be in the $25 million range, sources said. The Mavericks, who were looking to make a big splash in free agency, may not have gotten the biggest fish, but they certainly didn’t come up empty-handed either. Ellis played in all 82 games last season for the Bucks, and averaged 37.5 minutes per game along with 19.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 2.1 steals. With Darren Collison going to the Clippers and O.J. Mayo going to the Bucks, the Mavericks were in desperate need of some scoring out of the backcourt, which is why Monta Ellis is a perfect fit for them. Ellis doesn’t turn the Mavericks into a contender by any stretch of the imagination, but he does turn them into a potential playoff team, and also might be an attractive piece to lure in free agents next summer. A backcourt of Jose Calderon and Monta Ellis along with Dirk Nowitzki in the front court is an interesting trio that is certain to give a lot of teams trouble. How much trouble remains to be seen, but it is definitely certain that the Mavericks are much better team right now than they were 24 hours ago. —Ben Parker: follow me on twitter @nba_lord  The post Monta Ellis Agrees To Deal With Mavericks appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.

Mavs Sign Monta Ellis

The Dallas Mavericks have signed Monta Ellis. The deal is 3 years and $25-$30 million (based on incentives). Not really sure where this gets them – he’d be a great pickup as a JJ Barea type energy scorer, but they don’t have the rest of the pieces in place to really take advantage of that. Which means it’s possible Monta might run roughshod all over the Mavs and steal shots...
