That NBA Lottery Pick:
Earlier today, the NBA officially announced their partnership with former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming to start the first ever “NBA Yao School” in China.
For those of you asking, what is “NBA Yao School”? I’ll let the official press release detail that news:
The NBA Yao School, launching in February 2014, will provide after-school basketball training and fitness programs for boys and girls up to age 16 at all skill levels. The school aims to teach the importance of teamwork, leadership and communication in a fun basketball environment.
The NBA will create the basketball training curriculum and operations manual, and select an experienced technical director to implement and manage the program. Yao will be responsible for developing and operating the school. NBA players and legends will make visits to the school to provide specialized instruction on basketball techniques, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and overall player development.
Here is what Yao had to say about the project himself:
“It has always been my dream to positively impact the lives of youth through sports participation,” said Yao. “Basketball fans in China are passionate and eager to participate in high-standard basketball training programs. I look forward to working with the NBA to establish the NBA Yao School as a trusted destination for basketball training. I am also excited to extend our partnership with the NBA and demonstrate our joint commitment to youth development.”

This upcoming season will only be the NBA’s third since the retirement of Yao Ming, but to me, it feels a whole lot longer than that. So much has happened since that point, like the Big Three coming together in Miami, Kevin Durant emerging as the number 2 player in the game, and the Rockets ...The post Will Yao Ming Get Into The Hall Of Fame As A Player? appeared first on The League News.
With a revamped division, the Southwest looks to be the toughest in the NBA.
With the new additions all around the division this past offseason, the Southwest Division, top to bottom, will be the most competitive and toughest division in the NBA during the 2013-14 season. Omri Casspi has done a lot of good in a short time with the Rockets.
But he isn't satisfied and probably never will be. The small forward spends a lot of time looking at everything he has done wrong and working on the things he can correct.
He has been an offensive spark for the Rockets in all three preseason games this season averaging 16.7 points off the bench.
All the flashlights in Houston are on the newcomer Dwight Howard and his fellow superstar James Harden at the moment. Howard came and instantly made the Rockets title contenders. Harden is also a player from which the team expects much this season, as the Rockets will try to make a strong title push. However, apart from the Superman, Harden and Chandler Parsons, who is the next star...
Dwight Howard spent eight seasons in Orlando going from franchise hero into one of the most reviled players in the league.
And for that he thinks his No. 12 jersey should be in the rafters evidently.
Via the Orlando Sentinel Howard said he wasn't very happy when his former team allowed Tobias Harris to wear No. 12 which of course was his number in Orlando.
A popular bit on the Internet of late appears to be taking photos of former NBA center Yao Ming standing next to people who are shorter than him so we can all marvel over how a man who stands 7’6″ can make even a person of average height seem short by comparison. Some examples include […]The post ‘Yao Ming is Taller than People Who are Shorter than Him,’ Part 3: Muggsy...
High flying slam dunks, gorgeous crossovers, a beautifully executed give and go - basketball is an art form. So, with that in mind, The Hoops Manifesto is putting an artistic twist on your run of the mill NBA team previews: our previews for all 30 NBA teams will take the form of a haiku. Next up: Houston Rockets
On Wednesday night, Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets will face the Orlando Magic in a preseason game.
It will be Howard’s first game in Orlando wearing a Rockets No. 12 uniform. Howard, the face of the Magic for several years, and a future Hall of Famer, will return to the arena he built, upset at Magic’s brass.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Howard is still upset that...
Dwight Howard faces his former Magic team Wednesday at Toyota Center for the third time since forcing his way out in a brutal will-he, won't-he drama of his Dwight-mare decision.
Magic fans and the Magic organization are still largely recovering from that. The team is rebuilding and working its way from the bottom -- literally after finishing last year with the league'...
Dwight Howard spent eight seasons in Orlando, going from franchise hero into one of the most reviled players in the league.
And for that, he thinks his No. 12 jersey should be retired by the Magic. Really Dwight? Don’t you think it’s a little bit too early? Also you have to make a HUGE presence on the team or franchise to have your number retired in my opinion.

Dwight Howard spoke candidly with the Orlando Sentinel in a recent interview. In Dwight fashion, some parts are refreshing, others are childishly naive.

Wednesday night, the Magic will get their first look at Dwight Howard in a Houston Rockets uniform.
Even though a year has passed (and a whole franchise) since Howard was on the Magic, he still casts a large shadow on the franchise. It is hard not to think of Howard when thinking of the team's history and how far the Magic have to go to get...
