The Cleveland Cavaliers have listed PG Kyrie Irving as out for tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors- “Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving (sore/hyperextended right knee) is listed as OUT for tonight’s game at The Q against Toronto. His status remains day-to-day and will be updated as appropriate. Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson has rejoined the team and will be ACTIVE for tonight’s game.” Irving missed last night’s game in Chicago with the sore knee, a game in which the Cavaliers snapped an 11 game losing streak to the Bulls. Cleveland is in the middle of a 5 game in 7 night stretch. Don’t be surprised to see the Cavs be cautious with Irving during this stretch. Shaun Livingston started in place of Irving last night, and will likely do so again this evening at the Q. [Related: Kyrie Irving out due to knee injury]

Cavs to hold Kyrie Irving bobblehead promo

The Cleveland Cavaliers are slated to run a bobblehead promotion for the ages next week.On Monday, the Cavs will basically hold a Kyrie Irving night by handing out a bobblehead in the likeness of their All-Star point guard. But the promotion doesn't stop there.Cleveland will also distribute 50 "Uncle Drew" bobbleheads, which is also in the likeness of Irving, just a...

Kyrie Irving out against Chicago due to knee injury

While it was believed that the team would not keep him out of game action, the Cleveland Cavaliers will sit Kyrie Irving on Tuesday night as the All-Star point guard deals with a right knee injury. Dion Waiters will likely be tasked to do a lot more handling of the ball without Irving, while Shaun Livingston and C.J. Miles should each see more minutes than they otherwise would with...

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving will miss Tuesday nights game at Chicago with a sorehyperextended right knee, team officials said. Irving reportedly bumped the knee at practice prior to the Cavs 118-94 win on Saturdayin Orlando. He was running gingerly for parts of that game. Irving missed Tuesday's win in Chicago with the same injury. The reigning Rookie of the Year has missed 13 games this season because of injuries. The other 11 came courtesy of a broken finger in late Novemberearly...

Kyrie Irving Injury: Cavaliers' guard undergoes MRI

The Cleveland Cavaliers don't have much to draw fans to the arena with.  They don't win games.  They don't have LeBron James.  The good people of Cleveland have little reason to show up and support the Cavs at all.  That is, unless Kyrie Irving is playing.  Irving is a show in and of himself.  Unfortunately, he is out again with an apparent injury.According to...

NBA News: Cavaliers and Omri Casspi in talks surrounding buyout

The Cleveland Cavaliers appear willing to meet the wishes of small forward Omri Casspi as the two parties are reportedly engaged in talks surrounding a buyout. Cavs and Omri Casspi indeed engaged in buyout talks, I’m told, with deal to part ways possible before March 1 deadline (which is Friday) — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 28, 2013 Casspi, unhappy with falling out...

Video: CJ Miles dunks on Toronto’s Amir Johnson

Known mostly for his outside game, veteran leadership and sneaker collection, Cavaliers swingman CJ Miles got up on Wednesday night and turned 6-foot-9-inch Amir Johnson into the other name on the caption on the NBA press wire photostream. Credit to Luke Walton whose vision at the high post has worked wonders for this Wine and Gold reserve unit.

Raptors-Cavaliers Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't have Kyrie Irving in their latest game, but managed to pull off a road win against a team they've struggled to beat. They certainly wouldn't have gotten out of Toronto with a victory last month without him. Irving won't be around to hit another game-winner Wednesday night when the Cavaliers open a five-game homestand against the Raptors...

Young Cavaliers growing into winners

The young Cavaliers are suddenly developing into consistent winners. After a rough start this season, made rougher by a brutal schedule, the Cavs are showing signs of growth. With one of the NBA's youngest rosters, they went 7-5 in February, their first month with a winning record since 2010, when LeBron James was still wearing wine and gold. All-Star guard Kyrie Irving missed...

Cavaliers 103, Raptors 92

Rookie Dion Waiters scored 23 points, Shaun Livingston added 15 and the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a horrendous start and playing without injured All-Star Kyrie Irving for the second straight game, beating the Toronto Raptors 103-92 on Wednesday night. The Cavs made only one of their first 15 shots, but recovered and finished February at 7-5, their first winning month since March...

Checking in with Luke Walton and some thoughts on Shaun and Dion

Highlighted by his epic performance down the stretch against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, Luke Walton emerged as a potential candidate to soon enter my personal Hall of Fame for random Cavaliers to go on the most memorable runs in recent history. Then, following Wednesday’s win over the Toronto Raptors, Walton officially joined that group headlined by the legendary Lester...

Cavs stop slide against Bulls with victory

CHICAGO (AP) -- Dion Waiters scored on jumpers, turnarounds and an assortment of moves in the lane. Shaun Livingston made a couple of a big plays in a rare start, and Wayne Ellington provided some scoring punch when the reserves were in the game. Even without Kyrie Irving, the improving Cleveland Cavaliers had too much talent for the banged-up Chicago Bulls. Waiters scored 25 points...

WFNY Stats & Info: Continued improvements by the Cavs

Despite Sunday night’s last-minute loss to the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavs are 13-15 (.464) since Dec. 22. That’s a tremendous sign of improvement for a franchise that previously was 45-131 (.256) in the last 2.5 seasons. I’ve tackled this subject several times before — notably, in The Diff last Wednesday. But again, what are some fun stats around this recent stretch of...

Clippers-Cavaliers Preview

The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the top road teams in the NBA. Whether that will help the Pacific Division leaders win their first game in Cleveland in more than a decade remains to be seen. Los Angeles will try to end a 10-game road losing streak in this series on Friday night when the improving Cavs could be without All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving for a third consecutive...
