Over NBA All-Star Weekend, rapper Lil Wayne claimed on stage during a performance in Houston (video below) that the National Basketball Association has banned him from all league events. The allegations stem from Lil Wayne’s assertion that he was kicked out of a Miami Heat-Los Angeles Lakers game at American Airlines Arena on Feb. 10 at the Heat organization’s request because he was rooting for the visiting Lakers squad, an accusation the Heat have since denied. This isn’t the first time Lil Wayne has experienced a run-in with an NBA team. During last season’s playoffs, Lil Wayne felt wronged when he wasn’t allowed access to a game during the playoff series between the Oklahoma City Thunder-San Antonio Spurs despite the fact he didn’t have the foresight to obtain a ticket, something he remembered to do at a later date when he attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals. To further add fuel to the fire and kick the controversy up an uncomfortable notch, Lil Wayne, stealing a page from George Costanza’s playbook (presumably because the “Jerk Store” line would not have worked), also claims in the video below that he had sex with Heat star Chris Bosh’s wife, Adrienne, but did so in less dignified terms. Neither Bosh, his wife nor the Miami Heat have dignified that claim with a response. NBA Senior Director of Basketball Communications Mark Broussard, as a representative of the league that apparently has realized it had no other choice but to address Lil Wayne’s accusations, told TMZ that there is “no truth at all” to the claims Lil Wayne made on stage over the weekend. My guess is Broussard was referring solely to Lil Wayne’s claim that he has been banned from all league events, not the other, more salacious part about the rapper bragging that he had sex with Chris Bosh’s wife. Just a hunch. The NBA probably is savvy enough to steer clear of that part of that messy part of the controversy.
