Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant (Photo credit: rolling out.com) The New York Knicks maybe facing a huge loss to their team after next season, as their star player Carmelo Anthony grows aware of his closing window on Knicks’ title quest and may just opt out of the Knicks contract and join the LA Lakers. While hosting a Q&A session with a group of children at his annual basketball camp in Queens, the 29-year-old star said, “My window is closing, and I’m trying to bring a championship to New York ASAP.” While Carmelo’s age reflects his youthfulness as a human being, it doesn’t translate the same in his NBA career. Usually the age of 29 is considered the peak of NBA players and their influence on the court. With the forward being in the league for almost a decade, he knows winning a title has to be his main focus at this point. There have also been talks that Carmelo will join the Lakers after the upcoming season as well as Lebron James, which may be a bit far-fetched to some sports critics considering the Lakers’ finances. Veteran New York Daily News beat writer Frank Isola took to Twitter recently and shared his views on what Carmelo said about his window. The writer states: “Carmelo says his window is closing, which on one hand is good since many NBA types doubt the Knicks even have a window.” The writer even goes as far as writing a piece suggesting that it’s possible that the Knicks forward could become a Laker after the upcoming season. Isola: The Knicks can offer Anthony the most money, but the Los Angeles Lakers will be players in the free-agent market next summer and there has already been talk of Anthony joining Kobe Bryant, and even Anthony and Lebron James joining forces in the purple and gold. The All-Star forward, who has been asked repeatedly by many about his plans subsequent to this upcoming season says to kids in his camp that “As far as ruling out, I haven’t even, to be honest with you, thought about anything past today. My mind is not even thinking about next season, next offseason right now. I’m just trying to do what this offseason to get right, workout, train and get right and prepare myself for this season. When that time comes, I’ll deal with that.”
