Found January 20, 2013 on Hoop Fantasies Fantasy Basketball Blog:
Nikola Vucevic should be owned in all fantasy leagues. He's owned in 79 percent of Yahoo leagues, which seems low since fantasy owners should a) love double-doubles, b) love blocked shots and c) high shooting percentages. This is a guy who set the Magic's franchise record with 29 rebounds on New Year's Eve. Think about that for a second. This is a franchise that Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard played for. And Vucevic now owns the record. On Sunday night, Vucevic scored 14 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished three assists, stole a ball and blocked a shot. Take a look at his last 10 games: 14.4 points (55.7 FG%, 61.5 FT%), 14.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1 steal, 1.2 blocks in 37.3 minutes. Now compare those with his stats on the season: 11.6 points (51.6 FG%, 65.6 FT%), 11.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, .7 steals, 1.1 blocks in 32.1 minutes. His minutes have increased in January. He's locked down the starting gig in Orlando, and he's a must-own player in all leagues. He's my No. 1 waiver wire pick up of the year. Photo via Vucevic's Facebook page.

Al Harrington is ready to help out Magic

Just six days after the Denver Nuggets lost in the first round of the playoffs last season, Al Harrington laid in a Denver hospital bed with an IV running to his heart, and his knee swelling by the minute. All season long, Harrington had been described as the key to Denvers success by head coach George Karl. On the court, the 13-year veteran provided the Nuggets with the wisdom...

One month until trade deadline

We are officially one month away from the NBA's trade deadline -- February 21 at 3 p.m. ET. The rumors and the activity will increase dramatically in the next few weeks as Orlando tries to evaluate what it has and position itself for the future. This is a point I feel like I have been hammering in over and over again. It is still not 100 percent clear what Orlando is...

Magic rally short again against Mavs

When the Magic play with the sense of desperation they played with when they were down by 10 points with about four minutes to play, they can be a pretty scary team to play. The effort that is already typically pretty high gets ratched higher with that extra level of focus. The problem is that the focus is not always there. Or not where it needs to be. And Dallas had the answers...

Boston Celtics "covet" Magic's J.J. Redick

The Boston Celtics want J.J. Redick. David Baumann tweeted this rumor Saturday morning: "As Feb. 21 #NBA trade deadline looms, sources tell me the Boston Celtics covet Orlando Magic SG J.J. Redick" And why wouldn't they? The Magic shooting guard is having a career year: 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, .5 steals and .1 blocks with 87 3-pointers made in...

Mavericks-Magic Preview

The Orlando Magic's last two victories have come against division leaders. They just haven't been able to get the job done against teams below .500. Orlando will try to avoid a seventh consecutive defeat to an opponent with a losing record when the Dallas Mavericks seek a seventh straight road win in this series Sunday night. After ending a 10-game skid with a 104-101 victory...

Mavericks hold off late Magic surge in win

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Shawn Marion had 20 points, and O.J. Mayo and Vince Carter scored 15 apiece as the Dallas Mavericks fought off a late Orlando surge and beat the Magic 111-105 on Sunday night. The Mavericks led by 13 in the fourth quarter, before the Magic pulled within a basket in the final minute. Dallas earned its seventh straight road victory in its series against Orlando...

Magic-Pistons Preview

It's no secret the Orlando Magic have struggled defensively during their month-long malaise, but they've been particularly bad against teams with losing records. Perhaps facing the Detroit Pistons twice in the next six days will get them headed in the right direction. Orlando will try to avoid an eighth straight loss against a sub-.500 team on Tuesday night at The Palace...

Magic vs Pistons: Predictions

The Orlando Magic (14-26) will square off against the Detroit Pistons (15-25) tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Magic won the first two games of the series; both of which were in the middle of a big losing streak in November. If the Magic want to have any shot at relevance this season, they will need to break their streak of 8 straight losses against sub-.500 teams. Their next three...

Magic vs Mavericks: Predictions

Tonight, at 6 p.m. EST, the Orlando Magic (14-25) will try to take down the Dallas Mavericks (17-24) at the Amway Center. This is the second game of a five game run against sub-.500 teams for the Magic. They kicked that streak off in style, losing to the team that has been the league's worst for the last two months. The Dallas Mavericks are surging once again with Dirk healthy...
