CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Ty Lawson has set a goal for the Denver Nuggets as they close the regular season: eighteen wins. Denver took a step in the right direction Saturday night, pulling away from the Charlotte Bobcats in the fourth quarter for a 113-99 win that snapped a four-game road losing streak. Lawson had a team-high 20 points, marking the 13th time in 19 games he's reached the 20-point plateau, and JaVale McGee had 17 points, including seven of his team's 14 dunks. "If we get to 53 or 54 (wins) I think that we'll get that fourth seed" in the playoffs, Lawson said. "But we know it's going to be a grind for the next couple weeks, couple months." Perhaps not -- if Lawson keeps playing the way he has. Nuggets coach George Karl said Lawson has developed a better understanding of the rhythm of the game and is becoming more assertive in running the offense. He also said Lawson is gaining confidence with his jumper -- something he didn't ...

Bobcats can learn from back-to-back losses

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two perennial playoff teams came to Charlotte this weekend. Both left the Bobcats with double-digit losses. But what the Bobcats saw was two differing models of the blueprint to the foundation they're trying to lay. The version they saw Saturday night in a 113-99 loss to the Nuggets is built on everything the Bobcats have done wrong over the last couple of...

- Wizards vs. Nuggets: Wiz Fend Off Nuggets Behind Clutch John Wall

wizards 119 nuggets 113 2/22/2013 - Verizon Center, Washington, DC ESPN Boxscore Rob Carr/NBAE/Getty Images The Wizards never seem to make it easy for us folks. A 16-point lead was nearly squandered after the Nuggets opened up the final period outscoring the Wizards 25-12. The game seemed to be moving at a very comfortable pace after the Wizards went lockdown on...

Charlotte Bobcats Land Josh McRoberts, Makes Little Noise at NBA Trade Deadline

The Charlotte Bobcats have disappointed, yet again. Not only have they been abysmal for the majority of this 2012-13 NBA season, but they couldn’t even add some extra excitement during the NBA trade deadline this year. Tyrus Thomas is out of the rotation and is widely regarded to be on the outs with the franchise. [...]

Bobcats Frontcourt a Hairy Mess

Byron Mullens, who had vowed not to shave his beard until he had boxed someone out on a rebound, finally showed up clean-shaven in Saturday night’s loss to the Nuggets. That was about the only good news in the drama-free blowout, as Mullens had begun to resemble either a man who had crashed headlong into [...]

Celtics Set To Sign D.J. White To 10-Day Contract

ESPN’s Marc Stein reported Thursday that the Celtics were interested in signing former Bobcat forward, D.J. White, to a 10-day contract. Doc Rivers confirmed that the Celtics are indeed brining in White prior to Boston’s game in Phoenix Friday night. In his fifth year out of Indiana, the power forward averaged 21.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game with the Shanghai...

Bobcats outplayed in lopsided loss to Bulls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It wasn't hard to figure out Friday night why the Charlotte Bobcats have the worst record in the NBA. You didn't even have to look at the scoreboard, the one reading 105-75 in favor of the Chicago Bulls. Forget their league-worst 42 percent field-goal shooting, too. Forget that Charlotte likely didn't start a single player that would have started...

Video: JaVale McGee throws down huge dunk over Bismack Biyombo

Tweet JaVale McGee can do some dumb things on the basketball court sometimes. But for all of those knucklehead moments, he has plays like this dunk on Bismack Biyombo: McGee seemed quite unbothered by the fact that the Bobcats’ best shot-blocker was challenging that dunk attempt. It seems like McGee is finally finding himself in [...]

DENVER LEARNS THAT 113= A WIN IN NC

TSP Andrew: It's so fun to watch Biz get better with every game.  9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks tonight.  Our Rookies?  Gilchrist with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assits and 1 block.  Taylor had 18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.  Yep...there's always a silver lining to our games, and tonight is seeing our youth improve.  Gillie being buried...

C's shortlist of big men: DJ White, Jerome Jordan, Louis Amundson and more

Breaking news: The Celtics are shockingly looking for big men to fill the two roster spots they have! (Yes, I'm having fun with those who thought the Celtics made a mistake by not trading for a big yesterday as if the league abounds with them.) Steve Bulpett has reported a shortlist of five names: From today's Herald, big man names C's have discussed: Jerome Jordan...
