The Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings underwent eventful offseasons, with personnel changes that included new coaches for both teams. While the Nuggets hope their shakeup can help them remain a Western Conference contender, it seems the Kings could continue to struggle. Denver hits the road Wednesday night for its first game under Brian Shaw and seeks its 10th consecutive win over the Kings, led by Mike Malone. Shaw was hired to replace George Karl, who was fired after nine seasons, eight of which ended in first-round playoff exits. The first-time head coach is doing away with Karl's up-tempo style in favor of a more methodical approach. By the time January rolls around - maybe the All-Star break, at the latest - Shaw envisions his team fully embracing his system, one that hinges on half-court sets, a powerful presence in the paint and smothering defense. Until that time, Shaw's willing to overlook some of the growing pains that go along with the transition as he step...

Morey’s Take: Denver Nuggets Should Start Chandler, Randolph Together

Anthony Randolph should play at small-forward, and Wilson Chandler should ball at the 2-guard in the Denver Nuggets starting lineup for 2013-14. Once Chandler gets healthy enough to start for the Nuggets, coach Brian Shaw will have a mess on his hands.  Chandler hasn’t played in any preseason games.  He has missed all eight games from a hamstring injury he sustained at the beginning...

Kings rookie Ben McLemore posts insane Instagram dunk video

Sacramento Kings rookie Ben McLemore recently posted this Instagram video of himself throwing down a vicious post-practice dunk.

New Nuggets coach Shaw knows transitional change can be tough

Are the Nuggets crazy? They want to do what? How can creating more shots for physically gifted but offensively awkward big men JaVale McGee and Kenneth Faried make Denver a better team? That's precisely what point guard Ty Lawson wants to know. It hasn't been easy for Lawson to make sense of how the Nuggets intend to play basketball. "I think it has been a little...

Nuggets' Ty Lawson may not be able to play in season opener

Nuggets guard Ty Lawson said he hopes to be ready for Wednesday night's season opener at Sacramento but that he's not sure his ailing groin will let him. "It's still feeling a little stiff, so I don't know yet," Lawson said. Lawson was injured in the Nuggets' final preseason game Friday at Chicago. He did not participate in practice Sunday. He said...

NBA 2013-14 Season Preview: Sacramento Kings

Despite having a top 7 draft pick for the last five years, the Sacramento Kings just have not been able to get it together.  Even with the selections of all-star talents such as Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins, Sactown has not been able to capitalize with a winning season.  They’re hoping for a more positive result this year as they drafted Kansas star Ben McLemore and traded...

A new day is upon the Sacramento Kings, and things can only get better from here. New coach, new ownership, and possibly new faith from the fans after almost watching its team being whisked away to Seattle. With a commitment made in the form of a contract extension for DeMarcus Cousins, the franchise appears ready to build around the talented center.  Under new coach Mike Malone...

Sacramento Kings officials present downtown arena concepts at city council retreat

Sacramento Kings officials continued today to offer a glimpse into what they’re considering for a new downtown arena, saying they want the facility to have an “indoor/outdoor” feel that has the flexibility to allow patrons to view events from seats in the arena bowl, standing-room areas and an outside plaza. Kings President Chris Granger and developer Mark Friedman, a team...

Nuggets Exercise 14-15 Options On Faried, Fournier

The Denver Nuggets have exercised the fourth-year contract option on forward Kenneth Faried and the third-year option on guard Evan Fournier for 2014-15. Faried, the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, averaged 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds – both career-highs – in 80 games for the Nuggets last season. He recorded 31 double-doubles and ranked ninth in the NBA in field-goal...

Ben McLemore is ready for the NBA season, as proven by this sick practice dunk

Rookie Ben McLemore has some high expectations as he gets ready to kick off his NBA career after being the No. 7 overall draft pick this summer. The Kings rookie and former Kansas standout has already given us his first impressive highlight before the season has even started with this sick dunk he threw down after a recent practice. If he’s facing any questions heading into the...

Wolves may have chance to make move in Northwest Division

Denver Nuggets Last year: Seasons like 2012-13 in Denver apparently don't cut it anymore. With Ty Lawson leading the way on offense and Andre Iguodala anchoring a highly efficient defense, the Nuggets stormed to a 57-25 finish and the Western Conference's No. 3 seed. Lawson shot 46.1 percent from the field, helming a group of four scorers that averaged 13 or more points...

Kenneth Faried on the trade block?

Would the Nuggets really consider trading young power forward and athletic freak Kenneth Faried? There are no substantial reports that the Nuggets would actually trade Kenneth Faried. There is just the suggestion from Zach Lowe of Grantland that the Nuggets might have to consider doing this: Call this a semi-educated guess. Multiple sources around the league have reported in...

Nuggets Likely To Start Hickson As Faried Returns From Hamstring Strain

The Denver Nuggets are leaning toward starting J.J. Hickson at power forward in Wednesday's opener. Kenneth Faried is returning from a hamstring strain and is coming off a season in which he started all 80 regular season games in which he played. Sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe last week that the Nuggets are gauging the trade value of Faried.
