Patrick Ewing didn't receive a single interview for a head coaching vacancy this offseason, but ultimately accepted a position as assistant coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. “We get pigeon-holed,” said Ewing. “How many big men have gotten (head-coaching) jobs in the last 10 years? (Phil) Jackson and (Kevin) McHale. Not too many big men get that opportunity.” The NBA has recently hired a lot of former point guards as head coach.

Price previously worked with the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist specifically requested the Bobcats hire a shooting coach at the season’s conclusion. Price owns the highest free throw shooting percentage in NBA history.
