Davis has Pelicans eyeing big year

No one is going to mistake the city of New Orleans or southeast Louisiana for basketball country. Football has been and likely always will be king there; blood runs purple and gold for LSU on Saturdays, and black and gold for the Saints on Sundays. But one young man in particular brings with him an infectious excitement factor which could somewhat alter hardwood priorities within...

Pelicans guard Eric Gordon hoping for another productive performance

Starting shooting guard Eric Gordon is hoping for a repeat performance from earlier this week when the New Orleans Pelicans play the Washington Wizards on Saturday night at Rupp Arena. In his preseason debut Gordon scored 21 points in 20 minutes during Thursday's 105-102 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder that improved the Pelicans' record to 5-0. After missing the...

Wizards again banking on Garrett Temple’s versatility

For the first time since going undrafted out of LSU in 2009 Garrett Temple enters a season without the pressure of having to prove that he deserves to make an NBA team. Temple finally received the commitment that he long sought in July when the Washington Wizards rewarded him with a one-year guaranteed contract. But when he arrived in Washington last month before training camp Temple...

Wizards’ Otto Porter Jr. on injured hip: ‘It still hurts’

The Washington Wizards will soon get updates of the progress of both rookie Otto Porter Jr. and Chris Singleton when the two injured forwards visit with team doctors upon their return to Washington. Washington Wizards Need To Start Martell Webster

When the Washington Wizards re-signed swingman Martell Webster to a 4-year, $22 million contract this offseason, most assumed that he would slide into the starting lineup next to promising second-year man Bradley Beal at the small forward spot. If you look at the Wizards’ current depth chart, however, that is not the case. It is ...The post Washington Wizards Need To Start Martell...

Pelicans are just scratching the surface of their bountiful potential

Perhaps it was just an unguarded moment. But for a coach who has consistently downplayed seemingly praise-worthy accomplishments by his basketball team the statement was startling. "I want our guys to understand how good I think we can be." In the aftermath of the New Orleans' Pelicans 93-89 victory Saturday night over the Washington Wizards in Lexington Ky. to move...

Wizards’ Otto Porter says injured hip still hurts

The Washington Wizards were hopeful that rookie forward Otto Porter would be able to play on Opening Night though there is growing concern that won’t be the case. Porter who has a strained right hip flexor has been out of action for a month since suffering the injury on September 14th and doesn’t look like he’s had much improvement. The third overall pick in the 2013 NBA...

Garrett Temple To Assume 'Utility Player' Role For Wizards

The Washington Wizards are banking on the versatility of Garrett Temple again this season. Temple is unlikely to make 36 starts like he did last season, but Randy Wittman praised the 6-foot-6 swingman. “He’s like a great utility player in baseball,” Wittman said of Temple. “I want guys who are very versatile in what they do. It gives you different options in the course...
