It was just six and a half months ago that former Cards Peyton Siva and Gorgui Dieng were cutting down the nets in the Georgia Dome after guiding the University of Louisville to their first national championship in 27-years.
Tonight, they’ll both be on the court together; however for the first time in three years, they won’t be teammates. Siva’s new team, the Detroit Pistons, will host Dieng’s new team, the Minnesota Timberwolves in the final NBA preseason game for both teams.
Siva suffered a minor injury prior to the Pistons training camp and was held out of the first few preseason games. Since making his return, Siva’s minutes have increased and he’s gotten an opportunity to prove himself to the Detroit coaching staff. He averaged 7.5 assists during a two game stretch last week.
Dieng hasn’t seen quite as many minutes as Siva has, due to the fact that Minnesota is evaluating a lot of players who don’t currently have guaranteed roster spots. However, Dieng has been more than imp...

Tweet The Detroit Pistons got something in their final game of the preseason that we haven’t seen much of over the years; Josh Smith nailing a long jump shot. Not only did he nail a jumper, Smith sank a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Pistons a 99-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves: In fitting style, Smith needed a little...
Ricky Rubio doesn’t really think like the rest of us. Where we see a defender blocking a passing lane Ricky Rubio sees a fun obstacle to embarrass. Michael Carter-Williams just so happened to be that obstacle earlier tonight. Pretty sure he wouldn’t define it as fun. The post Ricky Rubio’s passing game appears to be in mid-season form appeared first on The Nosebleeds.
This hopefully will not be one of the high points of Tom Gores’ reign as owner of the Detroit Pistons. But Gores decided to join in the celebration after Josh Smith’s last-second three-pointer handed the Pistons a preseason win over the Timberwolves.
Smith’s shot hit front iron, then flipped into the net as the clock hit zero, erasing a 98-96 deficit. As the Pistons’ benched...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Rick Adelman learned his lesson after asking the NBA for a reprieve regarding Minnesota's demanding travel schedule.
"They sent us the Mexico," the Timberwolves coach cracked after practice this week. "That's why we don't ask again."
Minnesota will log more miles to play than any other NBA team this season, a fact bolstered by its Dec...
MINNEAPOLIS -- In a survey posted on NBA.com, the league's general managers were quite complimentary of Timberwolves forward Kevin Love.
Or were they?
The GMs view Love as the NBA's best offensive rebounder, its second-best power forward behind San Antonio's Tim Duncan, and the No. 1 player who makes the most out of "limited natural ability." That last one...
Hoisting up shots from long range is typically something I cringe to see Josh Smith settling for. His size an athleticism make him the perfect weapon while driving into the lane. But, at times, Smith has a bad habit of settling for shots from beyond the arc , where he boasts a less-than-impressive 28% for his career.
On Thursday night in Detroit, Smith saved the day with his 3-point...
Pistons newly acquired forward Josh Smith has been spotted at a head shop, probably buying some new pieces for his new home in the Motor City. Uh oh, busted buddy.
Oh wait, it’s just for tobacco? Ok cool.

Final Score: Minnesota Timberwolves – 98, Detroit Pistons – 99 The Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Detroit Pistons was the final preseason game for both teams. These are two fairly evenly matched teams, as the Pistons will be right in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff hunt, while the Timberwolves might be able to sneak into ...The post Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Detroit...
There’s not much to be excited about in Detroit these days, but a much improved Pistons squad is one of the few. Owner Tom Gores was thrilled for one, when Josh Smith hit a buzzer beater three to end the preseason.

On Tuesday, the NBA released the results of its annual survey of general managers. Among the questions posed in the survey were the usual and expected suspects, including which team will win the NBA title (Miami Heat, by a long shot, which teams will win their divisions, who will reign supreme as league MVP (LeBron […]The post Kevin Love claims he won the ‘white guy award’...
NBA.com’s annual GM survey was released earlier this week, with LeBron James running away with most of the individual player awards. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love also took home a couple of honors, if you want to call them that. For starters, Love was named the league’s best offensive rebounder, receiving 41.4% of the overall […]
Trailing 65-43 at the half, a furious Wizards rally came up short as they dropped a 99-96 decision in Detroit. Bradley Beal led Washington with 17 points, while big men Nene and Kevin Seraphin combined for 29 points and 15 rebounds against the powerful Pistons frontcourt. Detroit’s new twin towers of Andre Drummond and former […]

Kevin Martin added 13 points and A.J. Price had 10 for the Timberwolves, who improved to 4-2 in the preseason with one game remaining, Thursday at Detroit.

The NBA released the results of its 2013 GM survey on Tuesday, and while a lot of the results are obvious — LeBron James will win MVP, Anthony Davis will have a breakout season, Chris Paul is good at passing — but only one is hilariously easy-to-stereotype: “Which player makes the most of limited natural ability...
