The 2004 NBA Finals was initially thought to be a complete mismatch on paper. The Los Angeles Lakers featured a starting lineup of 4 future Hall of Famers and many had conceded the title to them even before the season. The Detroit Pistons were the heavy underdog, featuring a team with no marquee star built on defense and balanced scoring. As we all know, things didn’t play out as many thought they would. The Pistons dominated the Lakers all series and if not for a late Kobe Bryant 3-pointer to send game 2 into overtime, would have swept the star-studded team from LA. Phil Jackson was the head coach of that Lakers squad back then and is now today doing some consultant work for the Pistons as they search for their next head coach. That didn’t stop him from throwing some shots at the team over the way they won the Finals in 2004 while talking with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo. Per Detroit News: Jackson proceeded to seemingly take a shot at the Pistons and former coach Larry Brown, insinuating the Pistons flopped against O’Neal during that series and that it led to the Lakers’ demise. “Larry Brown taught guys to go down (flop) on Shaq and that’s one of the reasons they won in ’04,” Jackson said. “He had the center, (Ben) Wallace as the David in that matchup and those (plays) were called as charges.” “Shaq would put a shoulder into you and test how close he could get to the basket,” said Jackson, who’s on a tour promoting his book “Eleven Rings.” Sounds like some mild salt but Jackson has a right to his opinion. For the most part, the Lakers were just outplayed in that Finals series in my personal opinion. They were dealing with major egos all season with Karl Malone and Gary Payton joining the squad, and in terms of chemistry were the inferior team to the Pistons. Obviously the Lakers had more talent, but I think the 2004 NBA Finals showed more than anything that you need a lot more than just a talented group of individuals to win the NBA title.

Dwight Howard's terrible free throw game was put to the test during a contest against an Arizona housewife. Here's video of Howard losing the free-throw shooting contest.

Dwight Howard Says God Will Choose His Next Team For Him

I don’t understand why God didn’t direct Howard to wear some condoms? Considering all the secret children he has (5 confirmed maybe a 6th on the way). With that being said, here is what Dwight Howard to say about his impending free agency decision. “It’s free agency and I have the opportunity to choose where I’m going to play,” he said. “God opens doors, and I’m relying...

Dwight Howard Admits to Seeing a Psychiatrist; Says Fans Unfair to Him

Dwight might want to invest in seeing a surgeon about a vasectomy. but let’s stick to the basketball side of things. Howard believes the majority of his problems are mental.  Doesn’t matter if it was his free throw shooting or handling the Lakers Fans. “I have only one problem and it’s between my ears,” he said, while admitting he visited a Lakers’ psychiatrist. “I...

Detroit Pistons must learn from 2009 off-season and spend wisely

The Detroit Pistons enter the NBA off-season with plenty of salary cap flexibility.  That doesn’t mean they should overpay average talent and throw ridiculous contract offers out this summer like they did in 2009 when they kill their cap space on Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva.  The goal this off-season; improve the roster but be smart about it. Detroit Pistons (29-53 last...

Dwight Howard Drops a “Pause” in Halftime Interview; Not Fined By NBA (Video)

No difference between “Pause” and “No Homo”. It means you are making a comment someone could see as a “gay”, so you add the “pause” or “no homo” to stress that you aren’t gay. NBA didn’t care when LeBron said it, Andrew Bynum or even Dwight Howard during a halftime interview. I forgot though, the NBA only cares when it might affect their pockets.  My bad…

Nike Makes Special Medical Mamba Shoes For Kobe’s Achilles (Photo)

I have little to no doubt that Kobe Bryant will be in the starting lineup at the beginning of the season. Part of it is because of Kobe’s desire to return, but the other part is because he is getting medical treatment that is going well beyond regular rehab. Here is what he had to say about the special shoes Nike made for him on Instagram. Walking in my “medical mamba” shoes...

Dwight Howard Attempts A Free Throw Shooting Contest Left Handed

Dwight Howard took on the daughter of Los Angeles Times columnist T.J. Simers, Kelzer Nielson, a housewife and mother of three in a free throw shooting contest earlier this week.  Aiming to take it easy on her, Howard chose to shoot his shots left handed, you know, because he is such a solid free throw shooter.  Most makes out of 10 signified the winner and loser was to donate...

Report: Dwight Howard to Visit Rockets, Mavericks After Free Agency Starts on July 1

Dwight Howard could be playing basketball in the Lone Star State in 2013-14. The star center will visit the Rockets and Mavericks after NBA free agency starts on July 1, according to Howard has been recruited by Houston guard James Harden since the Rockets’ season ended. To free up some cap room for Howard, the Rockets plan to trade 2012 No. 5 overall pick Thomas Robinson...

Dwight Howard 'hates' seeing Duncan's jersey

During the NBA Finals, Rey Moralde of The No Look Pass will be contributing to Project Spurs during the San Antonio Spurs' chase for title number five.   Dwight Howard went on vacation early as he and the Los Angeles Lakers got eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs in a clean sweep and it seems the pain of losing to San Antonio is still...

Dwight Wants To See How Each Team Plans On Winning

Dwight Howard is a free agent this offseason for the first time in his career and is widely expected to decide between the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks. Pistons Eyeing Maurice Cheeks As Coach

The Detroit Pistons are giving strong consideration to Maurice Cheeks to become their next head coach and have set up a third interview with the Oklahoma City Thunder assistant, according to sources. Grant Hill helps rescue cats and helps old ladies in SI for Kids sketch

With Grant Hill announcing his retirement from the NBA earlier tonight, it reminded me of this old clip from the classic kids sports show, “SI (Sports Illustrated) For Kids”. Grant (then a member of the Detroit Pistons) is seen helping some people with their troubles including an old lady trying to cross the street. Clearly, Grant is one classy dude…
