To come back or not to come back. I'm not really sure Phil even knows at this point Although it was widely reported that Phil Jackson was the Brooklyn Nets' number one choice to replace the fired Avery Johnson as head coach -- and believed that interest was mutual -- it looks like the idea of P-Jax coming back is just a pipe dream at this point. The former Bulls and Lakers coach has somewhat cryptically announced that he currently has "no intention of ever coaching again." First off: What? This is the same guy that recently said he would listen to the Nets if they had called him about the open position. Of course, it would make a little more sense if it was just Phil wanting to yank the media's chain so to speak by very lightly denying interest just to put himself more out of the spotlight with regards to a potential NBA return. Essentially, it appears that Jackson gave all of us a classic "not saying anything by saying something" statem...

Kobe and Vanessa call off divorce

It didn't look too promising for the tumultuous Bryant marriage of late, but now Kobe's better half has let the world know that things might workout for these crazy kids after all.

Magic Johnson has given up on the Lakers

Kobe and Vanessa Bryant didn’t give up on their marriage, but Magic Johnson has divorced himself from this Los Angeles Lakers season. Facing their 6th-straight loss against the Thunder on Friday night, the former Lakers legend called it a season for the Lakers as they trailed by 16 at halftime. “It’s over for my Lakers. No playoffs, no nothing,” The Lakers ended up losing...

Report: Phil Jackson Has ‘No Intention of Ever Coaching Again,’ Again

Getting Phil Jackson back to coaching in the NBA is generally a multistep process, and one of those steps usually includes him saying that he is done with coaching. So the Nets are still in luck. Jackson, who won 11 NBA titles with the Bulls and Lakers, has been rumored to be in the sights of the Brooklyn Nets, who recently fired coach Avery Johnson. The team has since bounced back...

Lakers Executive Jim Buss: “We’re Not Going To Panic”

Lakers executive Jim Buss spoke with John Ireland and Ramona Shelburne on 710 ESPN radio Thursday where he primarily blamed injuries for the team’s 15-20 start. Here’s some of the transcript via Eric Pincus, Los Angeles Times. Does the team need to make the playoffs to persuade Howard, who will be a free agent this summer, to stay long-term? “If we make the playoffs, that means...

Steve Nash Doesn’t Seem To Optimistic About This Season

This quote from Steve Nash himself, can’t be good for Laker fans to hear: “I think three or four weeks ago, people would have said, ‘Oh, it will get better, right now, I definitely don’t think there’s a guarantee it will, so the only remedy is to continue to work hard and give yourself a chance for it to get better…. “I obviously think with time — and that might mean...

Video: Nash is sweaty but World Peace doesn't mind

Steve Nash and Metta World Peace have only been teammates for a few games but already their bond is tight. Perhaps a bit too tight. During the Lakers recent loss to the Rockets, Nash needed to dry off a bit which included his sweaty, damp, and probably smelly armpits. Not a problem, any athelete needs to dry off. It is understandable but what isn't is when same player hands...

Jeff Van Gundy calls out Dwight Howard

While many media members buddy up with Dwight Howard because of his outgoing personality, Jeff Van Gundy is not falling for the act. Van Gundy believes that Howard got his brother, former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, fired in Orlando, and he’s not afraid to call out Howard when he feels it is necessary. During the second quarter of Friday’s Oklahoma City Thunder-Los Angeles Lakers...

Shame And Confusion: The 2012-13 Lakers

Look on the bright side…The Lakers are gonna get their highest draft pick in years!  Ah, that’s right.  They traded away all their picks through the 2030 season.  It was a nice thought though. I just don’t get it!  But please, spare me all of the excuses… “They hired the wrong coach…” “They don’t mesh well on the court…” “Dwight doesn’t make his free...

Lakers show fight in 5th straight loss

Tony Parker scored 24 points and the San Antonio Spurs handed the slumping Los Angeles Lakers their fifth straight loss with a 108-105 victory Wednesday night. Manu Ginobili added 19 points and Tiago Splitter and Stephen Jackson had 14 each for San Antonio, which has won 11 straight at home. Kobe Bryant had 27 points, Metta World Peace added 23 and Earl Clark 22 for Los Angeles...

One columnist thinks the Lakers should trade Dwight Howard to the Mavericks for Dirk Nowitzki

Yesterday, we discussed how reality is beginning to set in for the Lakers. A reality that screams that the Lakers are not a good basketball team at the moment. We also discussed that Steve Nash isn’t very optimistic that this team will get any better this season. And it may take another summer together to get to that point. But of course, some don’t want to wait that long and...
