Last night's San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics game gave us yet another close game with some possible theatrics in TD Garden.

After Danny Green forced up a three-pointer that didn't go, the Celtics, who were behind just one point after overcoming a huge deficit in the first half,  had a chance to win it all.

With just over several seconds left, the ball was passed to Celtics forward Paul Pierce. The Celtics typically go to Pierce on isolation plays to try to win close games, but what Pierce didn't expect was a defensive switch bringing Tim Duncan out of the paint to defend his last second fadeaway jumper.

Click play below to find out what Pierce had to say to the media following the game.

The anatomy of Paul Pierce’s last-second attempt against the San Antonio Spurs

Paul Pierce has won many game for the Boston Celtics in a situation similar to last night’s, isolated against single coverage at the top of the key with the clock winding down. Against the Spurs last night, he even had an extra advantage: Tim Duncan, San Antonio’s 35-year old center, had switched onto Pierce and the mismatch should have made Pierce’s challenge simpler. Many...

Recap: Celtics shoulda, coulda but don't beat the Spurs

That was one helluva frustrating loss. The Celtics scratched and clawed their way back from an early 17 point deficit, but lost when a Paul Pierce jumper rimmed out at the buzzer. Donny Marshall was annoyed that Pierce (15 points, 10 rebounds) didn't drive to the basket on the final possession. Despite being covered by the aging Tim Duncan, I didn't see much of an opening...

Paul Pierce Made the Right Choice With Final Shot Against Spurs

BOSTON -- Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers could not say it without sounding a little ridiculous, so we'll say it for them. (After all, ridiculous is one of the specialties around here.) Pierce got a perfect shot on the final play against the Spurs. In the wake of the Celtics' 87-86 loss to the Spurs on Wednesday, after Pierce's final shot rimmed out and ended Boston's...

Video: Paul Pierce goes one-on-one with Ahmad Rashad

In the video above, Paul Pierce sat down with Ahmad Rashad and reflected on his career, his nickname, getting drafted by the Celtics as a Lakers fan, passing Larry Bird on the Celtics' all-time scoring list, the pressure to win another title, and more.

QuickVid: Bradley, Pierce, Rondo, KG, Doc, Pop & Manu Talk After Spurs Beat Celtics 87-86

Avery Bradley spoke to CLNS Locker Room Reporter Jared Weiss about shutting down Dwyane Wade and Manu Ginobili in consecutive games. Paul Pierce remained confident after missing the game-winner Wednesday night. Despite another strong performance continuing his double-digit assist streak, Rondo was cryptic as usual. Kevin Garnett matched up against the other old great big [...]

Calling in the Script Doc!

DATELINE: HUMOR! Whether Paul Pierce will turn out to be the hero of the game, this satiric profile will show. Paul Pierce admits the game is not scripted. After throwing up a clanker with seconds left in a chance to beat the San Antonio Spurs, Celtic Paul Pierce revealed during a post-game interview that Hollywood scripts and storybook endings to the Celtics home game never made...

Spurs 87, Celtics 86: A valiant comeback falls short

Forget for a second the loss, which could have been a win if Paul Pierce’s buzzer beater had been just a few inches different.Tonight’s Celtics performance demonstrated everything that makes the Celtics tough to beat and everything that will hold them back. They had offensive droughts. Occasionally made turnovers that left me shaking my head. Couldn’t rebound for ****, including...

Catching Up With Tristan Thompson

Tristan Thompson chatted with me about how he feels he has grown as a player this season, why Tim Duncan and Paul Pierce have been so effective during the twilight of their careers and what area of his game he is currently working on improving. Paul Pierce was almost traded to the New Jersey Nets at the trade deadline, says Bill Simmons

According to Bill Simmons, the Boston Celtics nearly traded Paul Pierce to the New Jersey Nets at the trade deadline for a package similar to the one the Nets ultimately shipped to the Portland Trail Blazers for Gerald Wallace. Clearly, whatever trades did not happen at the trade deadline don’t matter much in reality. But in an alternate universe somewhere, the Celtics have Mehmet...

Avery Bradley's Improved Play Key to Celtics Rising Odds to Win NBA Championship

If you asked any member of the Boston Celtics about their recent winning streak, he'd probably tell you that all that matters is the next game. Don't concern yourself with the fact that the Celtics are holding opponents to just 37-percent shooting and 80 points per game, or that Rajon Rondo is consistently getting over 10 assists, or even that Paul Pierce was named the NBA...

Taking Stock: Celtics - Spurs

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value. Starters Rajon Rondo: 17 points, 11 assists and 4 steals.  No one else in this game got more than 5 assists.  My knock on Rondo last night, though, was the jumper he took with the Spurs up 1 with 5:09 left.  He seemed to get too caught up in the moment....

Taking Stock: Celtics - Bulls

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value. Starters  Rajon Rondo: Sometimes, when it's obvious some guys are off, Rondo has to take it upon himself to start taking over and getting more aggressive.  Even if he takes it to the hole a few straight trips... even if he takes free throws and misses...

Recap: Celtics run out of gas, lose to Bulls

In the first half of this game, the Celtics were doing just about everything right. They went into the break with a 49-38 lead.  Their defense was doing its job, they were even in the rebounding column, and the Celtics were controlling the tempo of the game.  Then the Bulls stormed out of the locker room and ripped off a 29-17 quarter that saw the C's fall back into their...
