Season Opener: Denver Nuggets vs Sacramento Kings 8pm (MDT) This is it. No more dress rehearsals. The Brian Shaw-era officially begins for the Denver Nuggets as they face the Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena at 8pm (MDT). Last season the Nuggets won 57 games while the Kings almost lost that many (54) games. Both teams have new coaches and general managers this season so it is safe to say that the result will likely be different for both teams in 2013-14. In preseason the Kings went 5-2 and the Nuggets went 2-5. Now keep in mind that preseason is not an indicator of what is going to happen this season but Denver looked anything but impressive. Here are some storylines to watch in tonight’s game: Injuries have devastated the Nuggets lineup - Kenneth Faried (hamstring strain) and Randy Foye (bruised hip) are probable, Ty Lawson is a game-time-decision (groin strain), Wilson Chandler (hamstring strain) and Danilo Gallinari (knee) are out for tonight’s game. Denver has defeated Sacramento in 18 out of the last 25 meetings (including 10 in a row) between the two teams. Who will win the battle down low between JaVale McGee and a re-focused DeMarcus Cousins? Here are some preseason highlights of Cousins against the Phoenix Suns.  He had 29 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 assists and 1 block. How will Faried look coming off the bench? He has historically struggled in this role for Denver. If Lawson is ruled out, will we see more Andre Miller or Nate Robinson? Sacramento’s weakness is defending against the pick-and-roll and this is an area of improvement for the Nuggets with the addition of J.J. Hickson - who will start tonight. Look for Denver to exploit this tonight. Point guard mismatch – at 6’6, Greivis Vasquez is huge for a point guard. Miller is Denver’s biggest point guard at 6’2, but is also the oldest and slowest of the three. Lawson (5’11) and Robinson (5’9) give up a lot of size to Vasquez and neither are known for their defense. Both Shaw and Sacramento’s Mike Malone are first-time NBA head coaches – who gets their first win tonight? How fired up will the Kings crowd be tonight after successfully fighting to keep their team in town? Rookies – how will Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum perform in their first real NBA game for the Kings? What will Shaw’s rotations look like? Can Evan Fournier bring his momentum from preseason into the regular season? How will Anthony Randolph perform in a starting role? Win or lose, it is great to welcome another season of Denver Nuggets basketball! Check-in later as Jordan Morey will have your post-game analysis. Morey’s Take: Denver Nuggets Should Start Chandler, Randolph Together

Anthony Randolph should play at small-forward, and Wilson Chandler should ball at the 2-guard in the Denver Nuggets starting lineup for 2013-14. Once Chandler gets healthy enough to start for the Nuggets, coach Brian Shaw will have a mess on his hands.  Chandler hasn’t played in any preseason games.  He has missed all eight games from a hamstring injury he sustained at the beginning...
