San Antonio Spurs
The Toronto Raptors were mostly healthy when they nearly knocked off the San Antonio Spurs last month.
They've been even better lately while playing short-handed.
With Andrea Bargnani and Kyle Lowry already on the shelf, Toronto will be without starting center Jonas Valanciunas on Wednesday night when it looks to win a sixth straight game and hand the Spurs their first home loss of December.
Amid their awful start to the season, the Raptors gave the Spurs all they could handle in a 111-106 double-overtime loss Nov. 25 with Bargnani, Lowry and Valanciunas all in the lineup.
While Bargnani (elbow) and Lowry (triceps) have missed the past six games and are unlikely to return Wednesday, Valanciunas is expected to miss some time after breaking his right finger in Friday's 93-90 win over Orlando. He's started every game at center despite being a 20-year-old rookie, averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds.
"Very unfortunate," coach Dwane Casey said. "He's ...

Kyle Lowry has played in 16 of the Raptors first 28 games where he’s averaged 15.8 points, 5.8 assists and 5.6 rebounds a game. Lowry has yet to return from a tear in his right triceps that had him slated to miss 10 days on December 12.
Though he’s out now injured, the Raptors supposedly would like to put Kyle Lowry in a trade package and keep Jose Calderon. The Raptors give...

The San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors got things underway at the AT&T Center tonight and in the first half, the Spurs knew this Raptors team was not going to play like their record suggests heading into tonight's contest.
Thanks to some timely defense down the stretch of the first-half by Matt Bonner and Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs took a 44-37 halftime lead.
The Toronto Raptors are going for their 6th straight win tonight versus the San Antonio Spurs. Jonas Valanciunas will be out of action for four to six weeks but there was some good news with regard to the fractured metacarpal on the ring finger of his right hand. The good news is no surgery will be required.
“He saw a hand specialist,” Raps head coach Dwane Casey said before Wednesday’s game. “But he doesn’t have to have surgery and that’s the main thing, the...
Jonas Valanciunas broke the ring finger on his right hand on Dec. 21.
Jonas Valanciunas has a fractured metacarpal on the ring finger of his right hand, which means he can’t be married, I think. It will also keep him out for a few weeks and gives you a reason to drop him in all but deep leagues and keeper formats. This opportunity will allow Amir Johnson and Ed Davis to shine on, those crazy diamonds. Johnson and Davis were probably already...
