Found July 14, 2012 on Red's Army:
The Celtics are reportedly interested in one of the biggest draft busts in NBA history – Darko Milicic. The Wolves amnestied Milicic earlier this week. Here’s his salary situation, via ESPN’s Ric Bucher: Milicic has two years and $10 million remaining on his contract, but only $7 million is guaranteed. Once finalized, Milicic will go through a modified amnesty process. Teams with cap space will be able to make blind bids to pick up a portion of his remaining salary. If no team makes a bid, Milicic will become an unrestricted free agent. Here’s the problem with Milicic – he’s awful. Can’t score and can’t rebound. He does block shots. I’d rather have Ryan Hollins. The only bright side to have Darko is Boston is that it would drive John absolutely nuts.

A sign-and-trade for Terry is a brilliantly simple cap move for Boston

I’ve been able to learn a lot about the new salary cap structure recently.  I’ve picked up a few of the nuances, but not all of them.  Sometimes in the pursuit of being creative within the system, I overlook a simple solution to a problem that can dramatically change the Celtics’ offseason.  This is one such solution:  A sign-and-trade for Jason Terry. In regard to outgoing...

Report: Chris Wilcox to re-sign for veteran minimum

Via the Boston Herald: The Celtics have solved at least part of their frontcourt problem by turning to a familiar player. A team source confirmed today that Chris Wilcox, who had surgery to correct an enlarged aorta last February, has agreed to what is believed to be a veteran’s minimum contract. Wilcox, who was cleared for full contact and basketball activity just over a week...

Darko Milicic Goes Unclaimed On Amnesty Waivers

Darko Milicic went unclaimed on the amnesty waiver wire and will become an unrestricted free agent.

Your Morning Dump… Raptors may be 3rd team in Jason Terry sign-and-trade

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  Indeed, at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, a Mavs source advised us that the rights to Jet had been renounced. Meanwhile, Terry was in Boston conducting a press conference … even though he hadn’t technically signed...

Kevin Garnett 'More Than Happy' to Be Back With Celtics for Another Season

Kevin Garnett announced on the eve of free agency on June 30 that he would return to the Celtics. That started a chain reaction, as the team made several free agent signings over the next couple of weeks. On Saturday, as the Celtics welcomed free agents Jason Terry, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox to new deals, the team also announced that Garnett had been officially re...

Rajon Rondo just chillin’ in Paris

Rajon Rondo is spending some time in Paris at Nike’s World Basketball Festival. I’d pull some quotes from an interview he did with this website, but the Google translation is rather funny (and inaccurate). Click the link for more pictures. (h/t to Jay for the tip)

Wolves cut Webster, trade Miller to Hornets

MINNEAPOLIS On Friday afternoon, the Minnesota Timberwolves waived small forward Martell Webster and traded veteran center Brad Miller to New Orleans. Webster would have been owed 5.7 million next season, but only 600,000 of that sum is guaranteed. Miller, who announced his intention to retire at the end of last season but has not formally done so, is owed 5.1 million next season...

Martell Webster Says Those Who Haven't Seen 'Savages' Should Be Put in Jail

The Minnesota Timberwolves waived Martell Webster on Friday, but the shooting guard still appears to be in good spirits. Webster took to his Twitter account to encourage all of his followers to see the movie Savages, which came out July 6. Webster seemed to have strong feelings about the new film. If you haven't seen Savages then your doing yourself a disservice. You should honestly...

Your Morning Dump… Where getting big free agents won’t be easy

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. What we don’t know yet is how those free agent contracts are structured and how much actual room they will have to finish the roster renovation. The Celtics have to stay under the luxury tax — $70.3 million...

Rajon Rondo: “I think I’m the best point guard in the league.”

First and foremost, most players of any professional game – as well as in any job profession — would more than likely proclaim they are the best in their said area of skill or position, but in a league where we have the point god in Chris Paul, skilled Deron Williams, injured, but athletic Derrick Rose, [...]

Ainge Does It Again, Re-Tooled Celtics Looking Tough

Your Old Pal New York Vinnie is going to be walking a treacherous path while writing this column. Frequent visitors to New York Vinnie’s House, know that I live and die with “MY BOYS” the New York Knicks; however what you might not be aware of is that New York Vinnie’s “MAIN CAT” and My Boss here at PRO HOOPS CENTRAL, the SACKMAN grew up in Boston and though as a true...

Ray Allen thanks Boston Celtics fans in local newspaper

Was Ray Allen Just a Mercenary?

Throughout this whole ordeal with Ray Allen turning his back on the Boston Celtics and choosing to sign with the team's biggest current rival in Miami, I have been strangely content. I have seen and fully understand the outrage spewing from fans of all ages, but I haven't been feeling that way. Am I still checked out? Admittedly, I went pretty much off the grid following...

Danny Ainge Says He Doesn't 'Feel Like We Lost Ray' Allen, That 'No One Player Makes a Team'

From the amount of moaning and pitchfork-wielding going on around Boston after Ray Allen decided to sign with the Miami Heat rather than return to the Celtics, people may think Allen's move is among the top tragedies of the century. But Allen doesn't feel that way, as he said when he was introduced by the Heat on Wednesday. And Celtics president of basketball operations Danny...
