Want to manufacture a controversy? Just ask a bunch of people to compare Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. ESPN the Magazine showed us all how it’s done by asking 26 current NBA players — a ridiculously small sample size, but just enough to create a story — who they would most like to see take the last shot with the game on the line. The vast majority of the players maintain their respect for Jordan’s clutch shot-making abilities. None picked James. “That’s like ranking the shortest giant,” an anonymous Eastern Conference guard told ESPN. “I’d want the ball in LeBron’s hands at the end of the game, but I’d want him to pass to Kobe or Jordan for the last shot. And don’t forget, LeBron is not a great free throw shooter, either.” Of the 26 players polled, 23 chose Jordan to take the final shot, while the remaining three chose Bryant. However, six of those players also said they believe James will finish his career as the greatest player ever. So those six players don’t wan

Kobe Bryant says he could play today if it was the playoffs or Finals

If it was the playoffs or NBA Finals today, Kobe Bryant would be playing. At least that’s what he told reporters in Beijing today. According to the Los Angeles Times, Bryant hasn’t felt any pain or soreness in his repaired Achilles and he’s ramping up his rehab daily. However, he has yet to really push himself to the limit. The Black Mamba says that wouldn’t stop him getting...

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant will look ‘pretty damn good’ throughout the upcoming season

Feeling no “pain or soreness whatsoever,” Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant expects to partake in more rigorous exercises this week. Bryant suffered a torn left Achilles tendon and underwent the knife to repair the wound on April 13. Expected to miss a minimum of 6-9 months, Bryant is determined to perform against the Clippers in the season opener on October 29. “I feel pretty...

Videos: LeBron James throws down vicious dunks in preseason game

LeBron James reminded the world that the NBA season is approaching. In a preseason game against the Washington Wizards, LeBron threw down three nasty dunks.

LeBron James throws down nasty back-to-back dunks against Wizards

As noted in the previous post, Miami Heat star LeBron James decided to have a rather epic dunkfest against the Washington Wizards. With less than five minutes to play in the second quarter, LeBron threw down two nasty back-to-back jams which included a fastbreak double-pump jam and a nasty one-handed alley-oop dunk from Chris Bosh: *** LeBron James image courtesy of Getty Images

LeBron James Is Already In Postseason Form

(via Getty Image) The Miami Heat are visiting the Washington Wizards for some NBA Preseason action tonight, as I’m sure that our nation’s fine elected politicians needed a break from arguing over whose fault this shutdown is, and there’s no better distraction than LeBron James. The self-anointed King/Chosen One shouldn’t even be playing more than a split second’s time in...

Andrew Wiggins’ First Endorsement Deal Could Be Worth Up to $180 Million

Andrew Wiggins, arguably the most hyped NBA prospect since LeBron James a decade ago, is about to land the most lucrative endorsement deal for an incoming rookie in history — of course, only after he finishes his freshman year at Kansas. Bleacher Report sources say Wiggins’ deal could be in the $140-$180 million range, and that Adidas is the front-runner at the moment: “(Adidas...

Kobe Bryant says he’s a better player cause he skipped AAU ball

via @Lakers Kobe Bryant is not a fan of AAU basketball. In fact, Kobe says one of the keys to his success was avoiding AAU while growing up in Italy. “I was lucky to grow up in Italy at a time when basketball in America was getting f—– up with AAU shuffling players through on strength and athleticism,” Bryant said. “I missed all that, and instead I was taught extreme fundamentals...

Rich Paul Considered Most Likely To Become Agent For Wiggins

Rich Paul is considered the frontrunner to represent Andrew Wiggins. Paul also represents LeBron James, as well as Canadians such as Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph and Myck Kabongo. One NBA agent said he'd "be surprised" if Wiggins didn't end up with Paul. Paul reportedly met Wiggins last summer in Ohio while James was working out with Kevin Durant.

LeBron James Shows He’s In Regular Season Form With Back-To-Back Dunks

Second-year shooting guard Bradley Beal torched the Miami Heat on Tuesday night with 29 points (in 31 minutes, no less) in a 100-82 victory for the Washington Wizards. But it was LeBron James who stole the show in the second quarter, throwing down back-to-back powerful fast break dunks that prove he’s ready for the season to begin. LeBron James Talks Allen Iverson’s Influence on Him

This isn’t surprising to me. A lot of NBA player could relate a lot more to Allen Iverson than say Michael Jordan. Most players looked up to Jordan, but their real lives were probably more like Iverson and The King was no different. “I watch Jordan more than anybody, for sure,” James told ESPN’s Chris Broussard for a story in the upcoming issue of ESPN The Magazine. “But...

Kevin Garnett Says LeBron James Should ‘Worry About Miami’ After He, Paul Pierce Criticized for Celtics’ Supposed Hypocrisy

If LeBron James wants to rope himself into the back-and-forth (or, for that matter, the silent treatment) that has accompanied the breakup of the Celtics’ Big Three, that’s just fine — Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will take shots at him as well. Garnett and Pierce had brief but pointed words for the Heat star this week after James accused the two of getting a break when they...

Nike, Adidas Expect to have $100 Million Bidding War for Andrew Wiggins

And to think the kid hasn’t even played a minute of college basketball yet. Incoming Kansas freshman is widely recognized as the best basketball prospect since LeBron James. Expected to be a superstar in the league, teams are prepping for what looks to be a star-studded 2014 NBA Draft class. Apparently though, it’s not just […]

Metta says Carmelo has “a killer instinct” that reminds him of Kobe

Metta World Peace may be playing for the New York Knicks now, but he hasn’t forgotten just how good Kobe Bryant is. According to News Day, World Peace recently recalled the winning ways of Bryant, Pau Gasol and Derek Fisher, and says he sees that same kind of “killer instinct” in his new teammate Carmelo Anthony: It’s not just the ability to take over a game offensively....

NBA Players say Jordan & Kobe over LeBron for a Last Second Shot

Perception, is an extremely powerful thing. There are some people who say it comes very close to reality in terms of importance, but one thing I will say is what people think is true is generally what they choose to believe. Even if it may not necessarily be the case. That’s kind of how I feel about the anonymous player poll done by ESPN The Magazine, in which they asked current...
