Thunder don't need to make major moves to win title

OKLAHOMA CITY The Thunder have Kevin Durant and hopefully a well rested Russell Westbrook. There's Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha and Reggie Jackson. Hey, it's a longshot, but Kevin Martin might even return if he doesn't find a free agent deal more suitable than what OKC might offer. Essentially, the pieces of last year's 60-22 team are all in place, so what...

Report: Bynum refusing to work out

Andrew Bynum is more than willing to listen to teams trying to woo him for his services. But he won't work out with any team before signing, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports. Bynum, who missed all of last season because of knee problems, has the size and skills to command big bucks on the free-agent market when healthy. But that's the main issue with the mercurial...

Kevin Durant keeps it trill by eating at Popeye’s

We all know NBA superstars have the financial means to eat whatever they want. There isn’t a meal in the world that Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant could not afford, but that doesn’t mean he likes to spend more of his $20 million paycheck than he has to. “Popeye’s, f all that sushi, and [...]

Andrew Bynum, big supporter of self-sabotage

With any lucky, Andrew Bynum will be out of Philadelphia shortly, so I figured I should take advantage of what little time I have left and write yet another piece about Bynum while he is still topical to the 76ers.This piece ran originally on Philly.com and kicked up a lot of comments; people didn't have a lot of kind words for the big guy. But seriously, refusing to work out...

Report: Kevin Martin not returning to the Thunder

It appears Kevin Martin will not return to the Thunder. A number of reports have Martin signing a four-year, 28 million deal with Minnesota. Nothing is official until the first day of the free agent signing period on July 10. "Minny was my first option, outside OKC, so I've got to take it," Martin told Sam Amick of USA Today. "Especially being (with coach Rick...

Kevin Martin is leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to rejoin former coach Rick Adelman with the Minnesota Timberwolves. A person with knowledge of the deal says Martin agreed to terms with the Wolves on a four-year deal worth as much as $30 million on Tuesday. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced. Martin averaged 14.0 points and shot...

Signing with Jay-Z won't change Durant's game in OKC

Kevin Durant announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal on Twitter. He checks on old ladies during basketball games and signs a carpal tunnel's amount worth of autographs. With a smile to go along with it. Last May, when the Thunder lost in the Western Conference semifinals, he answered all the questions, then thanked reporters for being there. Hey, no problem, KD. ...

Free Agency: Spurs interested in Antawn Jamison, Dorell Wright

The free agency news is flying and it is enough to make any NBA fan head spin and the San Antonio Spurs are right in the thick of the numerous free agency rumors since the offseason began. The latest Spurs free agency rumors comes from Yahoo! Sports as they report San Antonio is interested in forwards Antawn Jamison and Dorell Wright. Los Angeles Lakers free-agent forward...

Kevin Martin Heads To TWolves

Free agent forward Kevin Martin is signing with the Timberwolves, sources say. The deal will be for 4 years and around $30 million, and leaves the Thunder with even less on their squad from the “Here’s James Harden for nothing!” decision. Que sera. By the way, there’s a 90% chance I thought this was Kenyon Martin when I first heard it. And then a 70% chance I thought it was...

Kevin Martin Agrees To Four-Year, $28M Deal With Timberwolves

Report: Timberwolves Sign Kevin Martin

I’m a little shocked that The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a four-year deal with guard Kevin Martin worth $28 million according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Martin, an unrestricted free-agent, didn’t shop around for a better offer. There was a little buzz for the former Thunder guard who was in discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies...

Martin was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder by the Houston Rockets last October in the James Harden trade. The Thunder had already conceded that they would not be able to re-sign Martin and were interested in a sign-and-trade.

RIP, OKC

You can stick a fork in the Oklahoma City Thunder.  Their days as a title contender are just about done.  I wrote this about them two years ago, after they made it the Western Conference Finals and put up a game effort against the eventual champion Dallas Mavericks: As soon as the old lions fade away, the world will be theirs.  But if you check the history, this rarely comes to...
