So here is the article that I am refering to on Yahoo. Following early playoff exits for both teams, reports are now surfacing that the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics may be discussing a blockbuster deal. In the rumored trade, which can be found here, the Celtics would receive Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Caron Butler and Eric Bledsoe, with the Clippers getting Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and even head coach Doc Rivers in return. It’s hard to take a whole lot of stock in this rumor, but it’s certainly interesting to think about. For the Clippers, the motivation here would have to be to keep Chris Paul. Paul is a free agent this summer, and much has been made of whether or not he would want to stay if Vinny Del Negro is the head coach. Many think Paul does not want to play for Del Negro and would love to play for someone like Doc Rivers. While Kevin Garnett can certainly still play, the Clippers would have to have huge concerns about trading away their starting power forward and center. KG could give them good production for the next year or so, but giving up a cornerstone in Blake Griffin would be hard to do. If you’re the Celtics, you would have to pull the trigger on this. What better way is there to start over than grabbing a young superstar in Blake Griffin, as well as additional pieces like DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe? With Bledsoe on the roster, the Celtics would also be given flexibility to shop around Rajon Rondo for additional pieces. Imagine starting new with Griffin, Jordan, Bledsoe, and whatever they would get in return for Rondo? All of this being said, it’s tough to imagine that the Clippers would be willing to part with so many young pieces just to get aging veterans and a better coach. However, you have to wonder how much Chris Paul will weigh coaching in his decision. If he has told the organization that he will stay with a coach like Doc Rivers, everything changes. First after reading this the Clippers maybe run by Donald Sterling but even he wouldn’t make this trade. Why would the Clippers give up all that young talent for two aging players who are basically shot and have little to nothing left? Now picture the duo playing out West in the same conference with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Kobe and …the Memphis Grizzles. Um no. Can’t see it happening. The Clippers have been interested in Kevin Garnett that’s no news there, and maybe they could trade one of those players but not all of them especially Blake Griffin. If this was true you can say goodbye to Chris Paul as well. No one knows for sure if Paul and Vinne Del Negro get along or not and if he wants to play for a coach like Doc Rivers why not wait and see if Rivers stays in Boston if he does then go sign with the Celtics? Rivers wouldn’t be part of a player trade like that. This isn’t Baseball where they have done crazy stuff like that. Second… No one team that considers itself a contender and has a shot of really giving the Lakers a true run for their money next season would make a lopsided deal like this, it serves no purpose whatsoever. Maybe the correct rumor to start for that writer would have been consodering that Ainge knew he needed help at the point when Rondo was hurt did nothing to secure a point guard and set up Doc and the boys for failure, hence the correct rumor would be …Ainge is on the hot seat and could be out as the man running the show. Or better yet another rumor to get rolling would be this: Ainge could be out as a shake up in Boston happens with Phil Jackson signing on in Ainge’s role …at least then it would have more teeth.
