Normally I’d say we should be patient and let the season play out before crowning any “best play of the year” candidates. That being said — 60-plus games remaining or not — I highly doubt we are going to see someone get their ankles broken this badly again this season in the NBA. With time running down in the first half between the Thunder and Timberwolves, Russell Westbrook put a crossover on Luke Ridnour that will haunt him for the rest of his life. Breaking ankles doesn’t even begin to describe it. Check it out: And you thought Derrick Rose’s move on Tyreke Evans was bad last year? It doesn’t get any more embarrassing than that. That’s the type of stuff you see when one NCAA team puts their walk-ons in and the other keeps their starters — including the best player in the nation — on the floor. I can honestly say I feel badly for Ridnour. How else can you feel after witnessing that?
