The Philadelphia 76ers ahve announced that they will play the New York Knicks in an October 22nd preseason game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.  In honor of the Sixers 5oth season, they decide to go back to their roots, in Syracuse.  

The Sixers played 14 seasons as the Syracuse Nationals, winning a championship in 1955.  In 1963, the team moved to Philadelphia, and became the 76ers. Sixers CEO Adam Aron had this to say about the special event:

"As we celebrate our 50th season in Philadelphia , it's important to remember our Syracuse roots while looking forward to the exciting season we have ahead of us," said Sixers CEO and co-Owner Adam Aron. "What fun to see the Sixers take on our division rivals in this historic hometown game."


Tickets for this game will officially go on sale on Monday, September 17th at 10:00am.  Again, the game is October 22nd versus the New York Knicks at 7:00pm.  The Carrier Dome is located on campus at Sryacuse Univesity, and seats 49,262.
