Three Headcoaches are gone and one assistant coach is leaving. Doug Collinsns(Philadelphia 76ers) quit as had been reported on and both Byron Scott and Lawrence Frank were fired by both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons. Eddie Jordan is leaving the Lakers to become the new headcoach at Rutgers University in the wake of the Mike Rice abuse scandal. There could be more coaches soon to follow. Some will be fired for having less than stellar records, others because of missing the playoffs after having the advantage of being in the playoff hunt all season only to implode at the end (Utah Jazz). There will rumors about a certain former coach who has let it be known he wants back in (Phil Jackson)and expect to hear his name attached to many of the openings around the league. Had the Lakers not made the playoffs you might be tempted to put Mike Dantoni on the endangered speices list of soon to be gone head coaches, however with the Lakers getting in the playoffs, he will get the benefit of a full training camp to put in his system completely and maybe have a fully healed Kobe Bryant back ready to play. In the meantime 32 teams played a 82 game season to get an invitation to get to the post season. 16 accepted, 16 were sent away. Get ready now the fun begins 16 teams playing for the right to win a championship …until there was one.
