It was a short-lived time with the San Antonio Spurs for Marcus Denmon after being selected at No. 59 at the 2012 NBA Draft. He spent time with the Spurs Summer League team and soon after, he signed with French team Elan Chalon to continue developing his basketball skills.

But unlike many other late Spurs' draft picks who are stashed away, never to be heard from again (like Robertas Javtokas) San Antonio will continue to keep a close eye on Denmon as he develops in France.

In a conversation with Chalon coach Greg Beugnot (via French site Basket USA) San Antonio strongly believes in Denmon and will be sending the coaching staff to monitor his growth.

"The Spurs believe in him a lot and they have chosen to put us in relation to the place that is given to our posts 2. It was a debriefing with Spurs general manager (R.C. Buford), the staff, the agent and the player to build a real project in a year. Assistants will also come to France to see Marcus play in tournament preparation. It was a very good deal with the Spurs."

It is not often to see the Spurs make such a huge effort in late round picks. Aside from Denmon, the team seems to be keeping a close watch on players such as Adam Hanga, Davis Bertans and Ryan Richards. Then there are the other players, such as Jack McClinton, Javtokas, or James Gist who have fallen off the Spurs' radar, never to be heard from again.

All in all, this bodes well for Denmon. The team is already stacked with guards and he was not going to see much playing time next season. It's a win-win situation for both parties - Denmon grows into a better player and could possibly help boost the Spurs next season.

What do you think Spurs fans? Think Denmon will pan out eventually or is a player who will never be in a Spurs uniform?
