We all have our idea of what a dream match up would be during the 2013 NBA Finals. Whether you’re a die-hard Heat fan, or you bleed Orange and Blue, the NBA playoffs are a spectacular showcase for the world’s best professional basketball teams.
5. San Antonio Spurs vs New York Knicks
Remember the last time these teams faced each other in the NBA Finals? It was the 1999 NBA finals, where the #8 seed New York Knicks faced the #1 seed San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs ultimately won the series 4 – 1. It would be a great rematch for the both teams and for the fans as well. With Carmelo Anthony leading the New York Knicks alongside Amar’e Stoudemire and Felton, the team has improved and are one of the early Championship favorites this season, while the San Antonio Spurs led by Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have won three NBA Titles after the 1999 Championship ( 2003, 2005 and 2007 ).
4. Los Angeles Clippers vs Indiana Pacers
The battle of the dark horses, this would be an exciting match up for the NBA Finals. Two dark horses battle each other and go head to head. The Indiana Pacers are one of the deadliest teams in the Eastern Conference. They gave the Miami Heat a tough time in last year’s Playoffs, where they took the early lead over the Bosh-less Heat. Miami made a series run to eventually close out the Pacers, but this season Paul George has become the Pacers’ biggest threat. Indiana is currently sitting in 2nd place at the Eastern Conference. They look to make a playoff run and might even make the Finals, while the Los Angeles Clippers have made noise in the Western Conference. “Lob-city” has been dubbed a playoff threat. They’re one of the top dark horses as the playoffs approach. This would be an exciting match up, featuring two young, very skilled NBA teams.
3. Los Angeles Lakers vs Miami Heat
Everyone has been waiting for this Finals match for years right now. The rivalry of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James is starting to come to a head. Both players have been compared to Michael Jordan, and this could be their chance to show the people who is deserving of such a comparison. These two have never met in the Playoffs but, maybe this is the time where both of them finally get to take their shot at each other. Let’s not forget both teams have a star-studded roster. The Lakers, who are led by Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Metta World Peace and Antawn Jamison, are looking to make a Playoff run. The Lakers have been struggling this season and are looking to turn things around, while the Miami Heat, who are led by LeBron James, alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, have been on a rampage this season, and can smell blood, as they head into repeat mode.
2. Los Angeles Lakers vs Boston Celtics
Everybody wants too see this finals match again. Two teams that are trying to find their identity this season, and trying to lock themselves into a Playoff spot. The Lakers / Celtics rivalry involves the two most popular franchises in NBA history. It has been called the best rivalry in the sports. They have 12 Finals meeting ( 2010 was their last final match where the Lakers won. ) the Celtics have won the Finals Series 9 – 3 ( Boston Celtics won the first 8. ). This is a Finals dream come true, even if it’s a long shot.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder vs Miami Heat
It’s a no question, everybody wants a Finals rematch from last year’s Playoffs, in which the Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4 – 1, which gave the Heat their 2nd Championship (1st Championship in the LeBron to Miami era.). Everybody thought the Thunder would win the Championship, as they took game 1 against the Heat, but the Heat took 4 straight Wins and won the Championship. Right now both clubs have added some big threats to their roster. Kevin Martin, who was traded for James Harden, looks to fit the puzzle better for OKC, as James Harden struggled mightily in last year’s Finals. As for the Miami Heat, they have added Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Both teams are favorites in their respective conference this year, and it would be really great if they face-off again. The biggest question is, will the Oklahoma City Thunder be better prepared this time?
