There's an old saying: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Well, this is our attempt to do that as every Friday we'll give you the best in news and commentary from the Big Ten blogosphere. If you ever have a story worthy of this feature on the site by all means, hit the contact button on the menu and send it to us, we can't always find everything after all!

Having said all of that, let's get right into it, shall well?

The gang over at Crimson Quarry took a look back at one of the most courageous HC's in Big Ten history - Terry Hoeppner, who passed away five years ago this week. It's a great piece and got me wondering where the Hoosiers would be had he not passed away, after-all they were on their way up before his passing.

It also seems as though the ghost of Kelvin Sampson won't let go at Assembly Hall either, as the damage he did is still being undone, this time in the classroom.

What a strange week it's been for Penn State as the Jerry Sandusky Trial heads to the Jury room, yet what could be a vital piece of information will never be known by the guys and gals on the jury.

More after the jump...

Over at Black Shoe Diaries they gave a nice recruiting roundup if you're into that sort of thing (I know I am... again keeping the enemy closer).

We were going to bring you a nice set of things from Hail to the Orange, however it appears it's on temporary hiatus, so moment of silence if you will.

But, the fine folks of IlliniHQ are a bit more mainstream and have some good stuff as well, including a fine chat about the state of the Illini basketball program. You can always gather some fine ammo in these things!

Hey, guess what? Urban Meyer is RICH B*&%H, to the tune of $4 million a year. He'll make more than twice what the University president makes. Now I think that both salaries are crazy to begin with, but this seems totally ass backwards. Meyer wouldn't have a job if it weren't for the University existing, something's not right here and perhaps it's time to look at how coaches are compensated period.

Could OSU be moving it's Spring football game off campus? Seems strange, but hey Meyer needs all those in state recruiting advantages he can get right? ;)

Got to give it up to our friends over at Boiled Sports as they are doing some great work this summer. Example A: Their take on Mitch Daniels becoming the new university President.

Hammer and Rails was also all over the Daniels hire, but in a much different way. If you care to waste an hour of your Friday, this post is worth it. Honestly, it is!

Thanks for making it halfway through!! I suppose it's time for me to pull the band-aid off and talk a bit about our southwestern neighbors - the Hawkeyes of Iowa, huh?

The comedic geninuses over at Black Heart Gold Pants attempt to let you know what Chad Johnson-Ochocinco-Johnson and his new position coach talk about on day one. Ya, we've officially entered the STREEETTTCCCHHHINNNGGG it season.

It appears that the Badgers weren't the only team with commitments coming this past week as Iowa picked up not one, but two commitments this week according to FightforIowa.com.

Brad over at Maize 'N Blue Nation says what many of us out there are thinking: Playoffs... More like the same old BCS. Well written and if you want to know what I personally think about this system, what he said is spot on.

There's also this great look at the end of the Lloyd era and RichRod era at Michigan from MGoBlog that's a great read as well.

On to the Little Brothers of MSU.. The Spartans also got a nice commitment this week and the Alec James watch is still on between Sparty and Bucky, so it could be a very interesting summer to say the least.

Last season I had the chance to meet jon, the head honcho over at Corn Nation, during the "Welcome to the B1G weekend" we gave Nebraska. Great guy and he knows his stuff, so naturally the site is damn good (and no he didn't hold me up at corn stalk to say any of this, but he still may be amazed by the guy with the dead Badger on his head!). Anyway, they nominated Mike Rozier for the SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame - cause that's what we need more of - meaningless crap in college football ;)

Heck, who doesn't love a little humiliation of "the U"? Well, CN gives it to you in the form of Corey Schlesinger. Ahh, the memories, right?

Apparently Jerry Kill is creeping in to Wisconsin to recruit players now... Too bad Gopher fans can't say they stole this one from Bielema since we didn't even off the kid, but if grasping at straws is what you Gopher fans need to get through the day by all means. Just let me know when you spot Paul Bunyan's Axe anywhere in that nearly barren trophy case of yours at TCF Stadium, OK?

It's NHL draft weekend and look out, the Gophers have some good prospects, which is pretty much the college hockey equivalent of pointing out the Pope is Catholic.

Summer brings out some great stuff and their already counting down to football season in Evanston over at Sippin on Purple.

No question about it, the Northwestern defense needs to step up and Lake the Posts gives a good look into why. They also check in with a report on 2013 FB commit #7 for the Wildcats.

With that we have put the wraps on our first ever journey around the Big Ten blogosphere, hope you enjoyed it and don't forget... ON WISCONSIN!
