Found June 23, 2013 on Celtics Spot:
Both Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers fans can all exhale now. Over the course of the past week and a half the two squads had been trying to come up with a deal that would send Glen "Doc" Rivers to the Clippers in exchange for the appropriate compensation. The talks were on, then they were off, then they were on again, and then they were off again. What started as an unusual trade discussion eventually turned into an unbearable carousel of "he said, she said." But, at long last, the two parties decided on a fair swap earlier this afternoon. Rivers will be let out of his contract so he will be able to sign on with LA and in return, the Celtics will receive an unprotected 2015 first-round draft pick.  Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweeted out the news, per usual. Clippers, Celtics are agreeing upon a 2015 unprotected first-round pick, league source tells Y! Rivers, Clippers still finalizing contract.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 23, 2013 It's hard to imagine what it will be like next season when Doc isn't pacing back and forth in front of the Celtics' bench. He has been such a constant throughout the last nine years, whether the team was among the bottom feeders or contending for NBA titles. But at the same time, we all knew that this day would come and it became real for Celtics fans when Ray Allen left for Miami last summer. Now Doc has moved on as well and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are being left behind. However, there's no telling how much longer those two will be suiting up for Boston night in and night out.  One thing's for sure, Garnett will not be able to follow Rivers' foot steps like he had originally planned. The NBA won't allow for it due to league rules which say that there can be no contingencies between two or more trades. Basically, one trade cannot rely on the other and the League's stance on the matter has been completely understood by both sides. The irony behind all of this?  Before Clips offered 1st round pick to Celtics on Sunday, Rivers had informed Boston he planned to return for '13-14 season, source tells Y!— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 23, 2013 I guess the Clippers called just in the nick of time.  Rivers will walk away from the Cs after 9 long years, finishing his reign in Boston with a 416-305 (.577) record and the right to say that he led the franchise to their 17 NBA title.  Wojnarowski reports that Doc is expected to sign a 3 year/$21 mil contract with the Clippers.  Follow @TimMacLean_

Doc Rivers will explain decision Monday

A deal between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Boston Celtics for coach Doc Rivers has finally been agreed upon, pending league approval. The Clippers will sign Rivers to a three-year, $21 million contract and send a 2015 first-round pick as compensation to the Celtics, who have agreed to

Report: "Growing belief" that Kevin Garnett will play one more year, retire, and join T-wolves management

In the NBA vernacular, this is known as a "Woj bomb". Or a nugget of information that for many writers would be a major scoop, but for Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, who breaks nearly every major NBA story, is just worthy of a sentence or two in paragraph six. Tonight, while discussing Doc Rivers joining the Clippers, Woj discussed how the deal impacted both Chris...

Wolves Likely To Pursue Garnett For Post-Playing Career Role

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to pursue Kevin Garnett for a ceremonial role in their ownership when he retires from the NBA, according to sources. Garnett has two seasons remaining on his contract with the Boston Celtics, but may play just one more season before reuniting with Flip Saunders. "The opportunity will be there for him," one source said, "but there...

League Won’t Approve Garnett Trade

The big holdup with the Celtics and Clippers the past week has been the NBA’s refusal to allow a coach and a player to be traded in the same deal. The teams finally bit the bullet and took Garnett off the table, settling on starting with Doc Rivers. Now however, sources believe that the NBA won’t instantly develop amnesia and will veto any deal involving Kevin Garnett to the...

NBA would likely veto Garnett/Clippers trade

Sources are saying that the NBA would view any trade between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers involving Kevin Garnett as a violation of the collective bargaining agreement. This is because Garnett was reportedly in discussions involving coach Doc Rivers , and it is against the CBA to include a coach in [...]

NBA Would See Separate Garnett To Clippers Trade As Violation

With the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics agreeing to a deal involving Doc Rivers, the odds of Kevin Garnett being moved have decreased. The NBA would see a separate trade involving Garnett as connected to the Rivers' deal and a violation of the collective bargaining agreement. The Clippers and Celtics previously held talks simultaneously with Rivers and Garnett going...

Report: NBA Won’t Approve Trade Involving Kevin Garnett To The Clippers

The Clippers finally get their coach after a ton of back and forth.  The Clippers agreed to send a 2015 1st round pick to the Celtics as compensation for hiring Doc Rivers. Rivers then agreed to a three-year $21 million deal, subject to the NBA’s approval.  Jackie MacMullan of is reporting that any deal between the Celtics and Clippers for Kevin Garnett would not be...

Report: NBA Will Approve Doc Rivers Deal But Not Future Trade Between Celtics, Clippers for Kevin Garnett

As you may have heard, it sounds like the week-long drama between the Celtics and Clippers has finally come to an end.  Doc Rivers will be sent to L.A. in exchange for a 2015 first-round draft pick. But the deal is still subject to league approval, which became an issue earlier this week when it was reported that the NBA wouldn’t accept a deal between the two teams that included...

MINNNEAPOLIS -- With so many years of experience, the Minnesota Timberwolves' new front office general is accustomed to using past examples from the past as illustration. Doc Rivers trade complicates Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce going to Clippers

Doc Rivers was officially traded from the Boston Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for an unprotected first-round pick in 2015. When the trade between the teams was first discussed, it was believed that Kevin Garnett would be a part of the deal. However, the NBA nixed that, saying that the league’s collective [...]

Report: League will not allow any other potential Celtics-Clippers transactions this offseason

From CBS Sports Ken Berger: The NBA will not approve any subsequent exchange of players between the Clippers and Celtics this summer, and the teams understand that. — Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) June 23, 2013 And from ESPN's Marc Stein: To reiterate: All indications are NBA WILL approve LAC deal for Doc Rivers. But all indications also are any KG-to-Clips trade gets blocked ...
