Shane Battier is organizing his annual karaoke fundraising event—the aptly named “Battioke”—to help raise money for his charity, The Battier Take Charge Foundation. Battier has enlisted the help of his Miami Heat teammates, and if the above promo video is any indication, the $150 entry fee will totally be money well spent. Nailing down my favorite moment in that clip is difficult—D-Wade’s warbling through R. Kelly’s “Bump N’ Grind” is cringeworthy, while James Jones’ emoting rivals his singing prowess as he croons the classic “Killing Me Softly.” Chris Bosh is his usual goofy self, but for me the winner is Chris “Birdman” Andersen and his rendition of Jerry Reid’s opus “East Bound and Down,” but that’s only because I firmly believe will every fiber of my being that Smokey and the Bandit should have won all the Academy Awards ever.
