24 hours after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2012 playoff ouster, the weather remains sunny in Los Angeles, although the future of the Lakers remains as ominous and as cloudy as ever. The Lakers are officially cap-strapped, have an aging core, lack perimeter shooting, lack consistency at the PG position, and no longer have the same chemistry that once made them title contenders. But then again, they are the Los Angeles Lakers, and as we all know, Laker magic strikes once every 5-7 years. As such I implore you to keep your eyes open for that upcoming Pau Gasol for Dwight Howard and Deron Williams trade….. believe me, its right around the corner.
The media pundits in Los Angeles have had a field day, positing a myriad of reasons for the Lakers’ demise:
Pau Gasol’s second consecutive lackluster playoffs in which he went from averaging 17 ppg on 50% shooting during the regular season, to 13 ppg on 43% shooting during the playoffs.
Ramon Sessions’ complete disappearance in which he went from...

Pau Gasol's comments following his end-of-the-season meeting with Lakers brass indicate he has no idea what the future holds as far as his place on the team is concerned.
For some reason Lakers fans love to hate Pau Gasol. Maybe its because he’s not the most physical, or maybe because he doesn’t always want to take the last shot, but for some reason the seven foot Spaniard finds himself at the center of blame for large Lakers losses.
Prior to the 2012 season, Gasol was nearly dealt to the New Orleans Hornets for Chris Paul, but due to David Stern’s...
When Pau Gasol arrived in Los Angeles five years ago, he was the missing link for the desperately rebuilding Lakers. His passing, vision, skill and selflessness fit seamlessly into Phil Jackson's triangle offense, and suddenly the Lakers were back to being the Lakers feared, loathed and on their way to three straight NBA Finals appearances and back-to-back titles.
Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol spent the final minutes of the Los Angeles Lakers' final game arguing in Oklahoma City, disagreeing on the best way to run a pick-and-roll play.
It might have been the tandem's last few minutes together with a franchise that has little patience when even great players stop bringing home rings.
The Lakers were eliminated in the second round for...

Two of the Lakers' three losses in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Thunder have come down to key turnovers at inopportune times.
The latest was an interesting cross-court pass from Pau Gasol that Kevin Durant intercepted, setting up his go-ahead 3-pointer that proved to be the difference in teh fourth quarter. Gasol, a typically skilled passer, made that...
Pau Gasol has not received clarification on his future with the Lakers.

Last year ‘White Chocolate’ guard Jason Williams officially announced his retirement from the NBA after a 12-year career — He had some great moments, and some not so great moments — Here he looks just flat out guilty. Something was always up with this guy. -TO

Are you there, God? Are bloggers allowed to paraphrase U2 or can I only quote groups like Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Tribe Called Quest or solo acts like Talib Kweli?
Either way, U2 just happened in this post. It's also how Los Angeles Lakers fans must feel after seeing there team get embarrassed in the second round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
Assuming they pick up Andrew Bynum...
