Clippers called Celtics today, offered a future 1st round pick for rights to coach Doc Rivers and sides near agreement, source tells Y! — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 23, 2013 Just when you thought it was safe to read the headlines again, it's baaaaack! I can imagine that the prospect of losing Chris Paul was becoming real to them when all the reports of him being unhappy that Doc wasn't going to be his coach. I just wish, if they are going to do it, they would just get it done instead of dancing around and making all of us miserable. The Clippers were reportedly close to a deal with Byron Scott. Doc was said to be done with them and tired of being jerked around. Danny said that the deal was undeniably dead. The Clippers weren't going to offer a first rounder. Danny wouldn't accept less. Doc went back to Orlando and was going to announce his decision between the Celtics and broadcasting on Monday. And that's where we thought it would stay. The question is, is this just more posturing, or do they really want to get a deal done. #Clippers were pondering whether to offer the #Celtics a protected first-round pick in 2015. #Celtics prefer 1st-round pick in '14 draft. — A. Sherrod Blakely (@SherrodbCSN) June 23, 2013 Danny wants another first rounder in 2014 because that is reportedly going to be a strong draft. I'm sure the Clippers would rather offer the 2015 pick. I can see this deal being hung up for another few days over which year the pick will be in. Mark Heisler adds that the Clippers might offer this year's #25 pick or the 2015 pick but are very hesitant to give up their 2014 pick, for the same reason that Danny very much wants that pick. Why 2013 or 2015? #Celtics would die for No. 1 in hot 2014 draft--but it's last one Clips will deal w/time running out, or already run out — Mark Heisler (@MarkHeisler) June 23, 2013 Of course, the league office will have to approve the deal, but since it's just one deal by itself, without the KG trade along with it, that shouldn't be a problem. At least, we can hope. I'm sooooooooo ready for this to be done!  [Discuss on CG Forums!]
